Or what did we do when the American shit hits the fan? Well that seems to happen a lot. Mostly we just keep on living our lives. What recession? 9/11 we took care of stranded Americans, sent troops to Afghanistan.
Be like our big bro? No thanks. Don't get me wrong I love lots of Americans, Colorado and California are two of my favourite places in the world. Life is just fine up here though.

 
"the" commonwealth? I assume you are talking about the Commonwealth of Nations. If that's the case, no, I do not know much about it. But there are many commonwealths in the US as well - Kentucky, Virginia, Pennsylvania, or, in my case, Massachusetts.

For every other angry 15 year old in this thread - relax. It was an ill-advised joke I guess. I should have known better not to make a Canadian joke on a predominantly American, Canadian-based website. I mean who am I to poke fun at the lack of popularity of Canadian artists?

I mean come on, there have been far worse Canadian jokes on this website that I've seen. This wasn't even bad. But like I said, apparently I touched the nerve of too many 15-year-old Justin Bieber fan boys.

its a formality. in reality england has no power of canada and there's talks going on about letting go of said formalities all together.

the queen dosent do anything, thats the governer general jobs micheal jean (whose supposed to represent the crown.) and even she has no real power she just signs whatever parliment brings her.

so no, we are our own country. and bringing up the most useless technicalities as an argument is pretty poor.

don't pick a specific place and compare the populations, its irrelevant.

a large amount of canadian artists come from ontario, which has a larger population than jersey. see? that has no stake in the quality of artist, as well you just picked a certain area that produces more artists.

why don't you tell me how many artists come from, say, nebraska? not a whole lot im sure, just as not a whole lot come from the Yukon. where they came from/ the populations of said place has little to no stake in the quality of the artist

and another thing, id hardly count a large number of those artists as being deserving of the title of "artist".(alot of canadians arent that much better to be honest, but you get the point.)

the facts: USA has more people than Canada, thats pretty much the only 'fact' i can find in this discussion. each country has good musicians and obviously the one with more people will have more... DUH. i cannot believe all Americans dislike all Canadian artists and vice versa so arguing about it is stupid. and i see no reason to believe that a country with more people is therefore greater. We're both separate countries with good things and bad things and what business do a bunch of sensitive teenagers and young adults have arguing about it? seriously?
