Seeing how Norweigan and Swedish are somewhat similar, is it possible to understand to an extend a Norweigian?

Yes, Swedish and Norwegian people can understand each other almost perfectly. Words differ in pronuciation and spelling but the grammatical structure of the language and the roots are nearly identical. For example Tack (Swedish) and Takk (norwegian). Both mean thank you, just diff. spelling. A very simple example, but it is accurate. Also: each language obviously has words that the other language does not, but this doesn't cause serious problems in communication. Oh yeah, and Denmark is sort of similar, but not quite.

yeah its really easy to understand.. its almost like the differens beetween irish enligsh and american english.

the people that lives in northern sweden easily understands norwegians, at least in jämtland where im from.

those from the south like skåne seems to have a harder time but they on the other hand understand the language of the danish wich consists of gurgling sounds and something else wich i have no idea what to call...
