Can you tour with a Candide 2.0

Whenever someone phrases a question like this, I just tell them to stay the fuck outta the backcountry before they get themselves killed.

The candide is already a pretty small and light ski, I wouldn’t really want a smaller touring ski unless It was going to be used for mountaineering or rando racing.

So yes you can tour on it just make sure you get skins that work well with twin tips because some tail clips for skins tend to slide off of twin tipped skis.

haha yeah, people asking for ski weight recommendations for touring is a serious safety concern as we all know...

Except he's not asking for weight recommendations, he's asking if its possible. This kid has zero knowledge about touring, therefor he should stay the fuck outta the backcountry.

he asked if it's doable, which any person with half a brain can infer as being a question of whether or not it will be feasible or if the size and weight will make it an issue. i know you're not unable to figure that out, you just are more eager to run to the "backcountry safety sermon" nonsense

Hey, how's the weather down in that deep hole you keep digging?

I feel like the question of suitability for touring the Candide 2.0 is less the size and weight and more about whether you want to tour on a centre mounted symmetrical ski or not.

Obviously this depends on how you’d want to tour on them, how much touring vs resort and how you like a ski to ride, but people often go with a more directional option when getting out of the resort.

Didn’t know the Candide 2 was symmetrical. Yeah I wouldn’t choose that for a touring ski

I'm a certified flight paramedic who pulls people "who should stay outta the backcountry" Just trying to stay fit and enjoy the outdoors! Thanks for the advice. I'll make sure the next big call I go on I'll educate the affected victims about good gear!

It’s likely that someone who phrases a question like this is not bc learned.... however this guy apparently is....

Me however I’ve read and watched everything I can on bc ,I’m at the point where I will understand what they’re talking about in a class so I’m ready to really learn , I’ve got gear and I’m gonna take the avy classes , however , I am curious , why should I worry about what ski for the ascent? All I care about is safety and fun on my way down I can carry a lil weight up , and why mount further back for touring if you ski -6 or center? Not like I’m skiing the matador ever, I understand center doesn’t skin as well? But all I care about is safety....up and down , fun on way down , I have a quiver with mixed mt points from -2 , to -9 or 12 on my sr88 can’t remember but it’s at recommended , only ski I own I wouldn’t consider touring on r my chronics

I’ve actually found that closer to center mount skis tour fine, they actually make kick turns easier because you can get the tip out of the snow easier. They just usually don’t shred pow or variable snow as well on the way back down, but if thats what your used to then go for it.
