Can you tell what drugs a band was on by the sound of their music?

I feel like different drugs will drive bands to create different types of music. To me alot of cool 80's music seems to be influenced by cocaine. Just from my understanding of what it feels like I can sort of relate to the way 80's techno sounds. Like to be honest some songs i listen to remind me of a certain drug. What if the drug it reminded me of was the same one the band was on when they came up with the song? Its kind of interesting. We talked about this once during a class about Freud's altered states theories.

Anyways does this happen to anybody else?

radiohead is so cool though, i think janis joplin did lots of lsd, remember that song feed your head?

Thank you. See Andy Mahre's seggy in Ski Porn.

Also I think it's about shrooms because it says something about taking this special mushroom.

i think you are just placing them in that category cause you know pink floyd, hendrix etc did acid, and cocaine was big in the 80s etc.

and also there is a whole genre called Acid Rock which that is sort of part of and it is influenced by LSD.-The Doors, The Greatful Dead, etc.

i didn't get this from listening to their music, but i know they were huge crack and coke addicts and when they quit they used their carvings and such as ifluences

I'm not a Deadhead but apparently (comming from my friends that are big fans) the bands evolution in sound can be attributed to the drugs they were into at that particular period. Drugs have had a huge influence in the world, some good, some bad, but their either way their impact is undeniable.

janis joplin hated lsd from what i read. she did lots of pills and drank her worries away, but i think you can hear the depression and emotion caused by being hammered in her music for surre

listen to frank zappa. you;d think he was one some fucked up shit. however he didnt do any drugs. he smoked and drank coffee like it was going out of style. the guy was crazy. he even named his kids dweezil and moonunit.

this isnt a hate post, but i dont understand how people get so into ladytron. ive heard lots of good things, so i acquired a bunch of songs, and just wasnt feeling it at all. maybe i got the wrong album?

well i guess i was wondering the System of a down song baout heroin because i come at it from a different angle. just cuasse there dirty and scummy looking doesnt mean there heroin type people.

the only band that i connect with as far as being connected with DOA and feelings and emotions are a few red hot chili peppers songs.

under the bridge and slow cheetah being the uber tear and goose bump jerker.

Sublime - they were constantly smokin two joints, drinkin 40's, and we all know what heroin did... destroyed one of the best bands ever.

word- janis wasnt a huge fan of many drugs aside from alcohol. i think i remember hearing somewhere that she said she was into "alcodelics" haha.

word. i think frank zappa was incredible, and i give him so much credit for having the mind power to make anything he imagined without looking to drugs for inspiration.
