Can you compare Tanner to terje?

Most sports have one person who seems to dominate, progress and develop the sport. Could you then say that what terje has done for snowboarding tanner has done for skiing? A few years ago he won everything with his switch rodeo 7 back then he was the best. And i still think he is now. In my opinion he has more style than anyone. And if he keeps on winning surley he go down in the record books as one of the greatest skiers out there.

Any one agree with me on this??

tanner is really fucking good there is no doubt. anyone who says otherwise is straight up hating. however he is by no means terje. first he needs to quit doing all the big comps and focus just on doing all of his tricks out of the park while skiing powder with his homies. when that happens maybe we can compare the two. doing a few crazy alaska rock lines like sage cattabriga-alosa in the new tgr movie couldnt hurt either.

 
^^ummm tanner has actually been out in the backcountry throwing his shit down for the last couple years, he's been one of the top guys pushing it in the backcountry...you shouldn't be saying he what he needs to do. I think people don't see how much effort he probably puts into it because of the amount of comps he does, and because there are people like JP Auclair and Anthony B that spend their whole winter in the backcountry, so they get more BC credit. But his riding in the BC is definetly on the same level as those guys.

 
but almost all of his video segments are in the park. and even tho i believe that he can kill it in the backcountry and all over the mountain until all that starts becoming a major part of his video segments most people will not realize his skills outside of the park.

 
I dont think you can compare them. No dis on Tanner here at all, but Terje basically does not fall. He is unbelievably composed and has so much athleticism. Have you ever seen when he Mctwists about 15 out of some indoor quarter comp, decks it, and instead of crumpling to the bottom, he stays on his feet by frontflipping back into the pipe. It was amazing.

I guess you could say Tanner is the closest comparison though.

yea i kinda agree... but i think way more than 1 person did that to the snowboard scene... more like 5 or 6. And yea Tanner changed everything with the switch rodeo 7... but only in Big Air... Steele was doing crazy rails, JF was doing the first handrail, and last year CR and Candide just went off and changed the way the WORLD looks at skiing, especially in pipe. So yea Tanner was a huge part of it, but there were others too...

he seems more comparable to shaun white, but only because they're both probably the only household names from SBing and skiing cuz they own the xgames

pollard has as much if not more style than tanner and is a better skier. pollard does way more big mt stuff and kills everything and is much more inovative

everyone gives props to tanner for the switch rodeo 7's. ya they were and are so sick! but no one gives props to those guys who were doing them way the hell before him. like skogen sprang and mike laroche and stuff. those guys probably pushed tanner the most during that time

you can't compare tanner to terje because terje is a GOD in the snowboard world! he's been in the spotlight and killing it since the 80's!

tanner is more jpwalker, terje is fuckin so early 90s id say maybe shane szocs or mike d are more terje and jpauclair is the peter line with invention and early progression

 
Im sick of this you can't compare one thing to another bullshit. Like, you can't compare skiing to snowboarding. You can fucking compare anything to anything if you fucking want. There are definited ways to compare skiing and snowboarding.

tanner hall absolutly does not compare to terje, I don't even understand how someone could think of that, terje haakonsen has done more to the sport of snowboarding than anyone else it's not even comparable. just cuz terje is an icon and that skiers are looking for an icon of there own too, there is no way to compare terje to anyone in the ski biz.
 
tanner hasn't done for skiing what terje did for snowboarding. i dont think one skier changed the game the way terje did, there was a group of em. and terje these days is way past his prime.
