Jesus fucking christ. I thought San Francisco and NYC people were bad for being glued to their phones. NOPE! My flight landed in Seattle today and no joke every single person in the seats adjacent to me and in my row whipped out their phones and started browsing email, Facebook, etc the moment we got low enough for cell service, probably 10-15min before landing. No they didn't have the paid wifi, this was legit internet.

It's just crazy how anxious everyone is to check their devices after not being able to use them for 5hrs. I know it's everywhere but it's just so sad we have become this way.

In other news, I saw a fat lady who was too heavy to be pushed up the ramp ???. Why should I have to pay extra for my overweight bag but humans aren't weighed....

Good take

Probably everyone is just bitching about how they wish you would leave already on social media.

Oh right, Welcome to Seattle!

I mean Id probably try and get some emails out of the way rather than sit on a plane for a bonus 15 minutes but thats just me

Welcome to society. It’s fucked. People don’t know how to socialize or interact with the real world anymore. Why pay attention to your immediate surroundings when you can pay attention to what’s going on somewhere else?

Hell yeah dude. I, an intellectual, come in for landing and instead of entertain myself or contact my ride or stay for the evening, I prefer to stare deadset into the seatback in front of me until we can all unload 45 minutes after touchdown.

Like I get what you're saying but I'd never get bothered by people keeping to themselves on public transportation. Shit's miserable enough as is.

As you all post this out using your phones. You're a bunch of fucking hypocrites.

Moderation vs 24/7 man but I appreciate your effort.

I think social media really did it in. Like having maps, weather, email, and just the tools is awesome but everyone got addicted to social media likes and now is Constantly searching for it. its addicting I don't blame anyone for it. Personally I just don't keep insta, Facebook, and all that on my phone bc otherwise I know ill mindlessly check it

For sure. I think it was something about the plane being in the air. Idk.

As far as a plane landing and people checking their phones immediately that's what people do. Hopefully OP gets that at least. Tell you parents or significant other you made it wherever. Hit up your friend for a ride, check hotels. Whatever. People use their phones in airports snd stuff.

Now that you don't have to wait in line at a payphone or something it's far more convenient .

Sure a lot of people ignore there surroundings. Some people are hopelessly addicted. But some people suck in general. Idk.

phone bad book good we live in a society

you right tho, I know I am guilty of it but the dependency on social media is insane

I am obsessed with my phone. But even more so, i realize i'm obsessed with attention from friends, crushes, anyone who will listen to my BS.

I’m pretty worried about the next generation of kids tbh. In public when I see toddlers and young kids seems like they are always on their parents phones. They are going to be so much more dependent on them compared to kids who get phones in middle school/ high school. Pretty Shitty parenting to allow your young kids 24/7 access to copious amounts of dopamine via phones. The kids reward system is gonna be so fucked when they are older

One day everybody will eagerly opt into surgery to integrate their phone with their brain and the entire population will never "put down" their phones again

I think a lot of people are scheduling rides from the airport, telling coworkers or family that they landed or are making sure their next flight is on time and at the same gate.

Yeah I totally get OPs point, but needing to get on your phone right when you arrive in a destination you travelled to via airplane is pretty valid.

I get that. I also get that it's no risk to the plane to use your phone in air. Also you have a solid 10-15min after touchdown before you even get off the plane and if you got bags, expect to add another 20-60+ min so the sense of urgency is a moot point. These people I saw were browsing email, Facebook, and tik tok. That's the purpose of my post- I can't imagine a world without phones anymore. People would lose their minds.

Also kinda funny people jockeying for positions at baggage claim like it matters. For those of us who were taught correctly in kindergarten, it's amusing to watch.

Tldr I think I just hate people in general ?

I don't see why you're so against people looking at their phones, they aren't affecting your life, you're not gonna talk to them, who cares? Most people are reading anyway, young kids might be on the gram or tiktok but the fact is everyone is trying to pass time until they get they get out of the crowded ass airport.

Totally justified. There is something really irritating about people who are glued to their phones. It almost brings me down.

I like when the bags get clogged up on the baggage claim and do like a log jam cascade onto the floor. It always bums me out when people shift the bags around so it doesn't happen

In my day we talked to one another face to face. At the very least we read the newspaper.

The next generation is gong to be the downfall of society.

Seattle is a shithole there just trying to not look at the homeless people on the sidewalk and also trying to get away from the constant smell of street piss

There’s a giant ass parking lot at SeaTac called “the cell phone lot” so you aren’t just endlessly circling and clogging up traffic waiting for people arriving.

Yeah that’s every airport lol

The one at BWI is like 20 cars max, so you end up circling anyway unless they made it bigger since last time I was picking someone up

I haven’t picked people up from very many airports I kind of thought this was a unique innovation if I’m being perfectly honest
