I have a win7 based intel laptop right now. I also have a 1tb external HD.

I understand that an external HD can be partitioned in 2 with HFS+ on one and NTFS on the other (if we wanted to use the HD on both macs and pcs. Is it possible to install OS X on the HFS+ partition of the external HD and boot up my laptop through my external HD to use OS X?

Wait, i read that wrong. Yes. Of course. You can install OS's from usb drives if you format it correctly.

yeah it should be. just google hackintosh and check the results. also, i think macs are formaed to fat32, which i believe windows 7 can do too. so you should be able to format the whole drive to fat32 and use it on windows too. im considering turning my laptop into a hackintosh too but im gonna keep windows 7 on it. and by the way dont take any of this as a fact, its just what i think. good luck

on and sorry double post, but i did this with my other computer and linux, but thats a whole different ball game

it will work, i do it on my netbooks internal hd. the only thing you need to check is your drivers/components. i think there is a compatibility list on hackintosh.org. google hackintosh compatibility chart etc., it shouldn't be too hard. they have many complete systems and individual components
