Can shops replace brakes?

Genuine question. May or may not have sawed off my inside breaks on my pivots because they were too wide. Now I wanna replace em cus I'm tryna resell both the skis and pivots.

Yeah but pivots brakes are expensive and a pita to replace

not a pain at all, just unscrew the arms once the heel is engaged and swap the baseplate.

Yes but pivot breakers are going to run you a pretty penny since it’s the baseplate you have to swap w/ it.

I said in an another thread you can email Rossignol for brakes for $50, much better than $100+ other sites charge. I guess that still might be a little pricey though.

Kind of a pain still cause you have to take them off the ski to do it

Hmm seems like it’s either a pain in the ass or pretty easy. I’m just curious if a shop will take the job or not

Yep I’m bringing mine in to replace my beefy ass 115s with 95s and already asked if they’d do it and they said yes (OGE in Burlington)

Maybe @nasty can chime in but I'm sure most any shop that sells pivots can do it but if you're selling the skis it may not be worth the price.

Correct, any shop that sells pivots should also be able to swap brakes

A shop that doesn’t sell pivots will too if you already have the new pair of brakes

Brakes on pivots can be changed. You'll need to remove the old brake assembly, replace it with the new one, and screw back into the ski. Be careful not to strip your holes.

If you can't be fucked to get a new base assembly; people have replaced the individual brake arms; but I do not recommend.

Why don't you recommend it? I've done it a few times it's not too difficult. Just gotta be handy with a flathead and a mallet
