Can Rossi be saved?

So everyone knows that Rossi is pretty much a dying brand. They did however, make one of the most successful and loved bindings ever: The FKS. I'm not a huge Rossi fan but i think it would be a shame to see them go under. I bet if they brought back their FKS bindings, their net profit would increase a huge amount compared to last season. There is still a huge demand for them even though they haven't been made for several years. I mean everybody who ever used them loved them. They still are the safest bindings out there. And the FKS aren't just a one-discipline binding, racers and freeskier alike all love them.I know this is a kind of "out there" idea and that restoring a dying company is way more complicated but seriously, if they brought back the FKS, i think they could make some money.
Sorry that was a huge amount of typing but bottom line: BRING BACK THE FKS!

I think that everyone is making too big of a deal of Rossignol's financial situation. Yes, they are hurting, but so are most companies in these tough times. I doubt they will go under, and if they do, why are you starting a thread about saving them when you have no personal interest in their company. It would be a shame to see them fall, but i believe they are just in a transitional period right now..considering Quiksilver just sold them.. If you are so worried about them, why don't you go buy some of their skis? I have, they are sick skis, now it is your turn.

well i more or less just want FKS bindings back haha. The whole top part was more of a reason for them to bring it back. And the reason i dont buy their stuff is because its like 700 for a pair of their skis. I bought new JJs off of anthony for 350. The 350 in savings just made sense to me

Mothers Cookes was around for 92 years and they shut down the day that the stock market crashed...having said that though, i honestly think Rossi will be fine.

Bringing back FKS would not revitalise Rossignol - it would just increase their binding sales a bit at the expense of other models like the PX18 and PX15

In the big picture, the market for FKS bindings isn't a predominant source of their income

according to some reps quicksilver selling them was a good thing. Since then their budgets been freed up some so they have more space for marketing so expect from rossi in the coming season.

I'm sorry bro but I don't think you thought about anything other than freeskiing when you posted this. Rossi has been bigger in racing then they ever were in freestyle and I'm sure they're doing just fine right now. I never knew that Quiksilver owned them though! I love Quiksilver, best jeans ever! I could really care less if they go out of business because I've found all their stuff to be total shit.

Yeah i was watching the Australian Nationals about 4 months ago and i'd say 60% of the GS racers were on the Rossi WCs..

FKS would also make up about 70% of the bindings, with the remainder being 916/920 salomon, the odd marker here and there

First off the fks was not a rossi binding it was a rebranded look binding, Look/Dynastar did all the developement for that binding, as well as almost every binding that has caried the rossi name. They are look Bindings

Second: Their sales are not really suffering, salomon is having a harder time then they are.

Third: The PX is a way better race binding then the Turntables. Quite simply they get down the hill faster when using the PX then the turntables.

Fourth: The cost of bringing back the P-18 is incredeble, there are still alot of working ones out there, these could be had for cheap. The sale of P15s and P18s would be low.

To bring them back they would need new molds, the old ones cracked. The cost of new molds is millions.

I never knew this - so that could explain the discontinuation?

(Although a few years ago when they stopped producing them i would have thought they had the resources to justify that type of cost?)

yes the molds cracked, and at the time they were experementing with the race version of the PX, the PX got down the hill faster so they just decided to stay with that then get new pivot molds.

Ehhhh... I'm going to go out on a limb here. Rossi makes good skis. If they want to make more cash then they just need to get better marketing. Bringing back FKS bindings would do nothing. They'd sell a few thousand per year, max.

I never used the FKS bindings. What was so great about the FKS bindings anyway and why are they considered better than any other binding out there including other brand's bindings?

tyrolias bout to take over, i know more than a few people who used to ride FKS and now ride the tyrolias, including myself

I thought the px design had the same amount of elastic travel? And it was just done in a different way? I don't know what people's problems are with the px. I have px14 races, and they've been bomber so far. The strength I can understand. The first thing I usually hear about the p/fks is that they'll probably outlast the skier.

I think they'll make a comeback, they've been having a tough time due to lost pros, skis that haven't been that successful, and undermarketing. With the new seven sins line, I think they'll have alot of success, as the S7s and S5s reviewed quite well. And if the quicksilver hypothesis does prove to be true, I think they'll be alright.

Don't forget rossi, they're skis have and probably always will be high quality product. I've got mine. Besides, they have look, lange, and dynastar, so I have a feeling they'll come out of this little slump OK.

GM has a big problem that the ski industry does not.

That is pensions, for a long time the american auto industry was hooking their emploies up with incredible pensions. This was while the auto industry was booming and it was not uncommon for famlies to get a new car every year or so. The problem is not that the industry has slowed down they are not making as much money, they still however have a ton of retired former emploies who are on incredebly lucrative pensions. So in essence for for every worker GM has in employemnt they are paying another 1-2 or even more former emploies almost as much as their current staff. aka their fucked

failing to enovate, and the PR about killing the electric car did not help them much either. They still make damn good trucks.

i personally am strait up not a rossi guy, ive had nothing but bad luck with their products, espesially bindings so it wouldnt hurt if they went under. if they did it would let better companies like 4frnt and armada get more business

no pre releases. the all metal toe piece will never break, the only thing on the heel piece that will break is the brakes. never any play once you click in. theyll last forever.
get a pair and you will understand

Word.

But yeah Rossi dominated them. Hate to say but I was there racing on Rossi becuase they sponsor me to race. But I chose rossi becuase their race skiis are good. But for the same reason I don't have their freestyle skiis.
