heres the deal i want a dog but my parents dont want me to get one. There reason is that they dont think im responsible enough. We had a dog when i was like 10 and i didnt really take care of it so itt ended up being there responsibility. Now there telling me since i didnt take care of it back then they dont think i will now. That was like 5 years ago and ive wanted a dog for a while now and im still getting this response. So if anyone had any ideas of what i could say to them to change there mind it would help out alot +k for good responses

you could say you really learned your lesson from that experience and would like to be given the chance to prove yourself

get your mom a really cute puppy for her birthday

shell love the cute puppy and decide to keep and you will have a dog

save up YOUR money and show them that your wanting a dog so bad your willing to pay for it YOURSELF and if u dont smarten up they can give it away/sell the dog and keep the money...

but that wont be the case because YOUR GOING TO TAKE CARE OF IT..

dude just make sure, cuz i know at 15 i wasnt responsible enough for a dog...anyways make sure you really have enough money for a dog, cuz its not just sticker price, its vet visits (hundreds for ur first vaccinations, neuter/spay-which is 100% necesarry), food, shit like that

look at this article....at the very least expenses for a dog for 14 years is over

$4000 and can be up to $34,000 but u gotta be planning to spend over 500$ just on your first year with the dog

just hittin u with the responsibility card cuz my dog just had a $400 vet visit...and i know im a poor college kid and cant afford that shit so i never even try to tell my parents im responsible haha

yeah you really want your parents on board, it'll be hard for you with school and everything to do everything for the dog especially pay for it

Your parents don't want to take your of dog and if you can't convince them otherwise nothing ont he itnerweb will help. Takeing care of a dog seems easy and cool and all that but when you start working and going and the novelty of a puppy wears you care less and less and what happens if you leave for college or when you go skiing for a week or whatever. They're probaly gonna take care of it more then or equal to you in it's life and they don't want that.

Yeah, medical bills are a killer if your dog gets sick. But fortunately there are free clinics, I live in upstate New York, and there are lots of programs to get through the bills that will keep your dog healthy.

Here's your main problem, though, in my opinion, if you are planning on going to college, then who gets the dog? You need to find a way to convince your parents you can care for it well for a lifetime, and if you are going away at any time for school, make sure you know what will happen to the dog. I had to give my dog away soph year, cuz of college, devastating, boo. Don't let that happen

not only do you need the money but you need the time. another thing to watch out for it a smart dog. not saying that all of the little dogs are dumb but most every single one i have seen is a fuckin rat that wont stop barking. ive had a border collie and now we have an australian shepard and she is amazingly smart. you just need to spend TONS of time with them when they are a puppy so they learn. but yea i agree with some of the posters above me that you should have your parents involved in buying it if you dont have a solid income of money. vets can get pretty damn expensive if even the smallest accident happens to your dog.
