god, whether i voted or not my vote is shit because i vote in VT my vote is NOTHING because my vote gets 3 electoral votes/points because of something decided 30 years ago. i just hate it. unless you live in ohio or floridia or whatever swing swing state you might as well just not vote. vote or die my ass. fuck it. i really dont care who won the pop vote. if more americans vote for someone they should win, argue that i dare you. we are supposed to be able to choose.

im not some sore loser or anything, good for obama, i hope he does well.
 
im with you on the pop vote, but it is what it is. If you live in a state like Cali or Washington they are soooo blue it wont make much of a difference most of the time, but you vote in case it does. Same can be said for the South, they are sooooo red it wont make much of a difference. Feel free to vent though bro its all good!!
 
word, its such a lame thing to say, but i think the pop vote should decide. every election i find myself thinking "i should move to Ohio, where my vote counts"cause either way its just 3 "points" in VT.
 
Well did VT go republican on the popular vote? no so like the electoral college voted the way the entire state did. Now i could see the complaints if Mccain won Popular vote but not the electoral votes.
 
i just wish they would at least adopt a plan that got rid of a few of these problems...like the proportional plan. that would eliminate presidents who didn't win the popular vote, and the loss of electorate who don't vote because they think it won't count
 
and because of the time zones, alaska and a few others states votes made no difference. if you voted in alaska, your vote meant shit because obama was elected before their voting closed, unfortunately.
 
that was only in this particular election, if it had been less of a blow out then every state would have mattered, look at 2000

I'm not saying that you are a sore loser nick, but (older) conservatives were not complaining when Gore won the popular election over Bush.
 
I kind of understand the electoral college. Like obviously there are going to be problems counting all the votes. So they try to simplify the process by electing people to elect. The time delay also makes it so a post-popular election nutcase doesn't get into office. However, its bullshit that if a state with a ton of electoral votes splits 49% to 51% then the person with 51% of the vote gets all of the electoral votes for the state. they should get as close to 51% as possible.

But seriously, we need to go by the popular vote.

And the results should not be announced until all the voting booths are closed and counted.

its just so stupid that it gets called a LANDSLIDE even though it was like 51 to 49 or something like that. like it wasnt a landslide at all it was extremely close.
