Can i get away without using breaks with hellbents??

just tell patrol you have powder leashes in your pack if they give you any shit. but if you can, brakes are a good thing. solly has up to 130 mm brakes, and i think rossi has something around that size too.

Do you plan to ride in the resort? Don't risk it if you will be doing anything inbounds. Besides its a HUGE risk to not have them, I've seen many skis rocket down the mountain and if they clip someone they can do serious damage

well, if you eject from a ski, there are two likely outcomes:

1.) The ski will hit a person, causing them harm.

2.) You will lose an expensive ski.

Both sound pretty shitty to me. I'd say put brakes on them.

^ word. the outcomes are not good. trust me its no fun lookin for a runaway ski. just atleast buy some leashes

haha I skied half of lasst season with one of my brakes not going down. But i only skied them in powder so when i crashed they stopped anyways.

not worth it at all, just bend them or invest in really wide brakes, the look px 120 breaks fit up to 140 without bending, it's weird but they do

ski breaks dont really do shit in powder anyways (which is what you'd probably be using your hellbent in anyways. anyways you don't need breaks just crank your din and youll be fine. My friend has skied 70+ days a year for at least the last 5 years on dynafits w/o breaks and he has been fine

Thread creator...DO NOT DO THIS!

Had to be loud or else you might think that risking ruining the rest of your skiing days for a little convenience is a good idea.

agreed. dont do it, just buy some wide breaks, ask your shop to bend them or do it yourself just like XavierD's vid (+karma for him).

after watching my freind do a huge diving save landing on ice moguls just barely grabbing the tip of his ski that was sliding away because the brake jammed id say you want good working brakes.

small price to pay to insure you want loose your ski(s) and wont get your ass sued when your hellbent flying down the mountain hits a 5 year old in the neck and paralyses them for life.

if your just using them for a pow ski u would b fine with just powder cords and no brakes. If your using them in the resort then u need brakes

get brakes, trust me, or at least a powder leash. my skis two seasons ago didnt have working brakes and the bindings were shit so they would pop off all the time, and I always lost my skis and id have to go get them on one ski. this one time i tried my first backflip i hit the nuckle and my ski popped off in the groomed powder and one of my snowboard friends went down as fast as he could to catch up with the ski and he literally dove for it. it was sweet. :)

To me, skiing without breaks feels really uncomfortable under my heel. It leaves a gap between your heel and heel piece of the binding which makes your foot actually move up and down if u hit a bump or a jump.

yea theres nothing like sliding down the hill with your skis windmilling 1 foot behind you the whole way

Ive seen my brake fail and result in my ski ghost riding an entire jump line, no good damn like no one got fucked up, you can find brakes for them, i have brakes on my donners at 140 underfoot you can figure it out on hellbents

700 dollar skis!

protect your investment and buy the fuckin 40 dollar brake.

you'd be a retard not to.

but the real question is have you ever seen a brake do shit in powder? no? thats cause they don't work for shit in powder, why do you think they created powder cords?
