Rowen,
This is by no means a way to criticize your opinions. I may have only posted a few times, but I assure you I have been on newschoolers reading threads for a long time. I don't want to aggravate anybody because I know what that can turn to (ie. the "Jesus Christ MSP" thread).. I just have a couple of questions for you so I can understand what issues you have, and possibly how I could help solve them. Why buy a ski movie just because of one athlete? Why not buy a movie for all of the amazing skiing, time, and effort necessary to make a well done ski movie? I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic in the comment but it seems like you have something against the major ski production companies, or maybe just MSP.. I don't know.. It seems like you know exactly what you want to see in a ski movie... One of the things you have to notice is the bigger the production company, the larger audience the product appeals to. Two of the largest, if not the two largest ski movie production companies (at the exception of Warren Miller): TGR and MSP, both have television shows. I can't speak for TGR but I know that MSP was started like any new aspiring production company out there, with a camera and some ambition. Now they both have extremely good products, I haven't had the chance to see Lost and Found yet, but I definitely do want to see it and I will most likely buy it. All I am saying is don't buy a movie because of one skier, buy it because of how psyched everyone is about it, I haven't heard one bad thing about SSD yet. I don't think anybody should hold any kind of grudge against someone that loves the sport of skiing and made it into their career, and has done nothing but strengthened it. Everyone just needs to be positive and supportive towards all aspects of the sport, and everybody to do with it. I saw SSD for the second time tonight, and as a freeskier (which is what I am primarily), and not as someone that now works for msp, it made me extremely excited to ski and film this winter. A movie shouldn't be something you feel obligated to buy because of just one element in the movie, if you feel you need to buy a movie do it because you would like to support that company.
I went off on a bit of a tangent there, no exactly sure where I was going with it, but enjoy watching all the new movies.. I haven't seen one yet that has dissapointed me, nor should one ever dissapoint anyone. Just get stoked for the upcoming season.
