Can guns actually do this?

yeah...it looks like they're shooting a barrett .50 cal, or some other high powered rifle with a large, explosif, round...
 
this has been posted before and there was a huge argument on whether or not it was real. I think it might actually be someone shooting groundhogs or something and not people. I don't remember.
 
yeah looks like some kind of animal but still. guns do crazy things, especially since the shot isn't taken from very far. i've seen pics of someones head completly blown off at a mile away from a high powered sniper rifle
 
The barrett packs some serious kinetic energy, quite a bit more than the average gun... I always assumed that video's real. I've seen another one where the guy is clearly visible before his head flies off from a barrett shot.
 
I don't think it would send a body flying in the air like that. Sure they can easily shoot off arms and shit, but send the whole body flying like that as it explodes?
 
well, just from using momentum, if the target is a human of similar size as the shooter, then the only way they could be blown that far would be if the shooter also was blown that far from recoil.
 
I wouldn't be surprised if that was real...one 50 cal bullet can take out a hummer, if they had any explosive whatever in them and hit a body that hard it would Fuck it up. A 50 cal will easily rip a human in two, that is why using them on another human has been deemed as cruel and unusual punishment by the UN
 
obviously u have never encountered a .50 cal they can tear bodies completely into pieces!! There are other videos hat show .50 cal shots which could easily do that whether that exact video is real i cannot say!!

The bullet furthest on the right is a 50 caliber bullet. Imagine getting hit with that at a rediculously fast speed. It can do a lot more damage than you think it can.
 
clearly you know nothing about firearms. The barret .50 cal sniper rifle would have to power to do something like that. You combine a big boy rifle with a explosive round and you can do pretty much what ever the fuck you want
 
in the last shot theres a change in colour in some of the rock and it looks like a hooded person looking down on the spot where what ever it is is shot

To the dude who said the recoil would send a person flying... yes, that would be true if he were holding the gun, but the barrett has an anti-recoil mechanism (which I know nothing about) and is also, I imagine, fired on the ground using a bipod. So it gets more complicated.

I don't know about this video, because I can't see it, but think about this:

An 800 grain round fired from a barrett at ~850 m/s would have, by my calculations, ~19000 J of kinetic energy. On the other hand, a 95 grain 9mm round traveling at 300 m/s would have only 276 J.

In other words, the 50 cal barrett round has 68 times the kinetic energy of a 9mm round. That's gonna hurt. I wouldn't be surprised to see little bits of person everywhere.
 
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's real. Those are most likely smaller animals, keep in mind there's not much to contrast the size too, so you can only really guess as to it's size. But yeah, that's a big report and is most likely a .50 cal.
 
There are a bunch of different rounds... I used the one with the highest grain I could find. Probably the ones they use in the field are closer to 15000 though.
 
The camera is probably near the scope of the gun or close to it. The speed of sound is like 750ish mph i think and a 50 cal shoots at 853 mph, so its not that much different. If the camera is closer to the gun than the target is then you will hear the report before the target gets hit.
 
yea and think that bullet is pretty heavy too. and that going faster than the speed of sound at you...draw your own conclusion

but, I know what you mean because a gun is a tool which is only used for violence, but it still needs somebody to pull the trigger.
 
yes that is a .50cal, no they are not in afganistan, no they are not shooting people, yes they are shooting somekind of rodent.
