Can anyone stand on their skis?

always remember seeing an ESF instructor standing on his skis as a child and even then i thought it looked sick. by standing on your skis i mean tucking your knees up under so your weight is balanced on the weight of your skis.

here is andreas giving us a demo:

Its cake!!! Just lean foward and tuck your knees in....you will prolly land on your face the first couple of times...but hella fun and chill

Skis aren't made with the intention of 'standing' in mind, and doing it routinely or for long periods of time can damage a ski. Don't fret though, the occasional ski stand shouldn't break or damage them....after all I hope you're actually skiing rather than 'standing' on your skis at the base of a mtn.

ya, they're called tipstands buddy, and i bleve ther've been like 100 other threads about them lately

why does it seem that people always make a couple of the exact same thread right at the same time

Ya I can do them. I just decided to try it one day and did it after a few tries. It's kinda funny and not really that hard at all.

there was a vid or picture of two guys facing each other in this field standing on their skis. it was so sick

i do it.

i'm pretty sure poles are required for this trick.

its pretty fun to do it and see little kids go, woah look at that. (then point at you) haha

Package breaker. I've done it.....On accident i was waiting in line one day and was streching and lost balance and wahlah, bam, there it was. It was a godsend or something .... then i fell, direct snow to face impact. No vid though. You'll have to trust me.

I can't stand on my skis. the second I get off the lift I just eat shit so bad, I need my friends to hold me up for balance it's really embarrassing I dont wanna talk about this anymore.

[CLAIM] I can do it without poles! [/CLAIM] but not for a long time. point is i can get into a tipstand with no poles.

in an old super8 ski movie my dad made with his friends there is a clip of one of them standing on his noses but stretching his poles out so his body is parallel to the ground and he walks with his two poles and skis.

i call it the spider walk

and i challenge you to try one.
