Can a nice person walk me through jailbreaking an iTouch?

Alright guys, here's my story.

Before I came to college, I had my entire music library on my laptop. I was required to get a new laptop for school, so I put all of my music on my iTouch, which is roughly 1,100 songs. Now that I'm on my new computer, I want to jailbreak my iTouch to transfer the files to my computer, which would free up my iPod and put my music library back on my computer.

So if anyone would like to type up/find a tutorial, I would not only greatly appreciate it but I would also throw down some karma (wink wink)

kind of off topic, but can anyone else not stand people calling ipod touches itouches.... i mean like you dont call your ipod nano an inano, or your ipod video(classic or whatever) an ivideo, so why do people call the ipod touch the itouch?
 
How is jailbreaking it not worth it? You realize there is ZERO downside right? You get better apps and far far far more options for customization~
 
Yeah you dont need to jailbreak your IPOD TOUCH to transfer its song onto another computer. Just use Senuti, and it'll work wonders. And you could upgrade your IPOD TOUCH firmware to 2.1.1. The 10$ is worth it.
Btw, as you may have mentionned, its called an IPOD TOUCH, not an iTouch. Without the caps
 
I agree. The new jailbreak really doesnt have anything rocking for it yet other then custom skins, the NES emulator, and a Quake1 port.

im tryin to make it so i can put my music back onto my reformatted computer..

ya man you certainly dont have to jalbreak a touch to get the songs off. you dont even need to download a program unless your using mac. if you are using mac download tinkertool. all this does is makes the files on your ipod viewable. if your using a pc just plug in your ipod. go to file, folder options, view all files and folders, presto, theres all your files. youll notice that their all strangely named like xxx.zzz and shit, apple does this to protect from piracy, but if you take every songle and import it into itunes it will rename them all for you. and as for jailbreaking i would only do it if you dont currently have the app store, other wise theres not much of a point,. hope that helps
 
people dont call it the ipod phone because it was named from the start as the iphone... the ipod touch was named the ipod touch.. kthanksbai
