Anyone have any interactions with campus police while trying to hit some urban at a college? I'm currently at college and wondering how differently you'd be treated as a student versus as a visitor just looking for some good rails
Well if you're a student then you'll be considered a student, which could work for or against you depending on what they decide to do to you.
I've never had any issues with campus police, however they've never caught us hitting any rails. They caught us on a jump over a landscaping wall drop on campus. The campus security guy just sat and watched us for a bit, asked if we were getting cold and really didn't say anything. That's the only encounter I've had.
Campus police are a lot more laid back and chill about the whole thing. Whenever they come talk to us while we're out late at night they typically just as if we're being safe and wearing helmets / things like that.
The only time we've been asked to leave is when we were near the family housing and apparently being a little to loud, they found us again where we relocated to and just told us to be safe.
But its also going to depend on where you're doing it and how the campus police is feeling that night.
I don't know what your experiences are but I think even multiple offenses of hitting a rail on campus would not be reason for expulsion. My tactic to get away from trouble if ever need be is to make the claim that I am a student (true) and I am using my skis as a method of transport on campus (not really all that true). They'd have to give me just as much freedom as they would somebody who is biking on campus if I claim it's a form of transportation right?
At our campus they watch you set up on camera and right as you're about to hit it they shut it down and make you clean up. Pretty much all you end up doing is playing with the snow for 30 to 45 minutes then going home.
I never had issues, they came up talked to its a bit about skiing(he skied too) told us to clean it up when we leave and then just checked up on us every so often
GFA hit all the good rails at the 518 schools and dodges the security for the most part. I'd say ask them but I don't think any of them are on here anymore.
On my campus the police are actual police, not just campus security.
There is one cop who likes us and watched us do urban for a bit, but there is another cop who said that he would arrested us next time we hit something. This dude has given us a lot of trouble and busted us multiple times. The key is to go do it at obscure hours or find a spot that the police don't drive by.
it depends on your school. You could just get told to be safe, or they could try to peg you with vandalism for scratching the rails in which case you would be screwed. The choice to risk it is yours though.
Haha I highly doubt you would get kicked out of school. I go to the Univ of Montana and some people actually call the campo and let them know if they are hitting a rail on campus. Some of the older hand rails they dont really care about so they let us shred them!
Someone stole my setup and my campus security helped me get it back. They also helped me set it back up. They're super cool about it. They don't care at all as not as long as your alc is in a water bottle and your pot is already rolled.
Eric Seo is banned from the University of Utah campus and if he is found there again could potentially be arrested due to the amount of times he has shot urban
