I was planning on going camping this weekend before it gets too cold, but the stanley lake campground is closed. Anyone willing to share where i should go? I drive an xterra so off roading isn't an issue, cheers

Closed campgrounds aren't normally that hard to get into but paying fines if/when you get caught will be a pain in the ass

I would suggest google.

iron creek, pettit lake, alturas lake, 4th of july creek. just to name a few of the more well-known areas

dude, the sawtooths are camping heaven. drive down a forest road, park your car, set up camp. the possibilities are innumerable. literally endless if you're willing to backpack into a spot

looks like the smoke from the pioneer fire has mostly cleared up, but it might be a little hazy at times
