Umm first off try the search bar next time. I'v written about his a bunch of times already but here ist goes again. Camping at Hood in the summer is a kick ass way to ski way cheaper than camps and you'll probably meet more pros than you would at camp, seriously. As far as sleeping you can sleep in the parking lot at the base of the mountain. It free but the only probalem is that the racers get there at like 7:00 and all the litle bastards will wake you up early. There are a few camping spots right along the parking lot at the south end that are in the trees. I've never slept there but I'm sure it's fine skince they don't care about people sleeping in cars. Whatever you do don't pay to camp because there are a bunch of places to sleep for free. You can evern sleep at the rest area in Govy but the truckers are there all night running their engines and it's kind of loud, but free. As far as skiing don't bother getting up early to get first chair. I made this mistake my first trip to Hood in the summer. ALL of the racers get there at excatly the same time for first chair since they want to ski when the snow is still firm. My first day it took me an hour to get from the parking lot to my first run. I'd say at ther earliest get there at like 8:30 or 9:00. That way the crowds are gone and the park is just starting to soften up, another reason not to get there early. You can ski til like 2:00 I think and then if you want to ski more you can hike the park. The public park has been lots of fun in the past with nice jumps. After skiing you are going to be bored out of you mind. Govy in not fun. There are a bunch of little kids running around spending their parents monet and it's just annoying. Bring anything you can think of to kill time, books, magazines, a bike(there are some fun trails in the area), a skateboard, PSP, whatever because from 2:00 until you got to sleep there isn't much to do. For food drive to Sandy, it's well worth the trip. The local markets in the Welches area are expensive and they don't have much. Also the two resturants in Govy are a total jip. Go to the Safeway in Sandy and you'll have a big selection and cheap prices. I'm a big fan of the cheese rolls and begal. Make sure to bring something to keep meat and cheese cold. My cheese got too warm my first trip and I got food poisoning and was up half the night throwing up in the parking lot. And that is pretty much it. I've usually been able to spend less than $200 for a week of skiing at Hood which is way cheaper than camp and in the process I met like 8 pros. It's way fun and hopefully you'll meet some cool people to shred with.
