CAMP OF CHAMPIONS RIPPED ME OFF!!!!!!!!

There has to be more to this story or this is a very isolated case.

I have dealt with COC for 4 years, multiple sessions, often last minute, arranging and rearranging and securing payments and credits using both email and phone. I have never ever had a problem. This year alone, as late as last night, while on the road, I called to make a deposit for 2009. Graeme answered and Ken was also there. I also have called numerous times this season prior to camp, to rearrange sessions and have always recieved a confirmation email. I have one in my inbox this morning from last nights phone call.

Matter of fact, someone has always answered the phone when I called this year.

Imagine my surprise to see this thread this morning. Frankly, I don't believe your story based on my experience. Especially if you bought cancellation insurance. Ken is a very stand up guy, and if, by chance, something very unusual and unfortunate has happened, he will make it right.

Call during the weekdays during working hours and don't forget the time difference.

Fuck the people that doubt the kid. Sure he may not have handled the situation as well as possible (definitely NEED to write down names of people you speak to in situations like this) but at the same time, if his story is legit, why the fuck should it be NS' job to doubt him. For whoever called him out on not having cancellation insurance, he clearly states in his first post that he has cancellation insurance.

Papa give the kid a fucking break. Just because you've had perfect luck with COC doesn't mean that some kid can't have his problem slip through the cracks.

WHY should we doubt him? I was on a 6 hour road trip last night and out of the blue, I called to their office and they answered........... just like every other time I have called this summer. 6 times at least.

If I was a kid working to pay for camp and I was out 3k, I would be calling everyday.
 
my point was that they are not purposely "ripping" him off. its just a lack of communication. if they were to talk to him and say "yea kid, fuck you we're not giving you your money back" then they would be ripping him off. if he paid by credit card and he calls the CC company they will put a stop payment on it. so he wont get charged for anything. even AFTER the card has been charged.
 
clearly you've never disputed a credit card charge, there are a ton of hoops you have to jump through. Sometimes it takes months to get your money back. Then there are tricky terms and conditions, the OP even said his dispute period had ended. Personally I would be calling CoC every few hours untill I got a hold of someone with the authority to do a chargeback. The fact that CoC even offers cancellation insurance means they have dealt with this before, to ignore countless emails and phone messages is just poor customer service, all the while this kid's out $2,500.
 
i have dealt with shit like this before. maybe i just have a great card/company but it was pretty simple. and the OP said he cant dispute the deposit. he can still dispute the 2 grand + charge for camp. if you put a hold on the payment, you wont have to pay interest or the actual charge until the dispute is settled.
yes, it may takes months to get the dispute settled but in that time period the CC company shouldn't (mine didnt) make you pay anything,
 
I think this is a good idea...or like the kid under papa said...call every few hours during buiness hours. I had an issue this year with getting paid by a privet high school in NH for coaching their freeride team, it had been over 2 months since i had stopped working and had not been paid yet. it was due to a lack of communication, but i called everyday, talked to the same lady everyday, and once they realzized that i was going to keep calling and calling untill i had it figured out, it was $700, they worked something out with the buiness office and just paid me.

but def call everyday during thier buiness hours and leave a message everytime, and start writing down peoples names! and what time you talked to them, and the jist of what they have told you, so when you call back and its still not working out and you can be like "well when i called on friday auguat 1st at 2:26 in the afternoon and talked to blank they said that i should call back today and talk with blank" it makes you look more responisble. dont worry dude, im sure everything will work out.
 
A "lack of communication" is the perfect reason to get pissed off. If someone owes me 2600 dollars, and there not picking up there phone after i repeatedly tried to call them I would be pissed, and so would any other person. I don't think you understand the OP situation, he had purchased "cancellation insurance", I don't know the exact details of what it does, but it sounds like if he needs to cancel he gets a good portion of his cash back. He said he repeatedly has tried to contact them and has not gotten through, I don't understand how you feel its the OP fault that he is agitated. Its COC responsibility or any legit company's responsibility to have reliable customer service for issues such as these, he should of called no more than twice and should of had this issue resolved. Not any hate on COC tho, the kid could just be really unlucky and have "fallen through the cracks", but he has every right to be pissed.
 
that doesnt mean i think its his fault. how do you interpret it that way?
no matter how large the sum of money this is, you wont get anywhere being all pissed off and angry. yes, he has every right to be pissed. but yelling at them like they just took his life away is not gonna solve anything any faster. he paid with a credit card so really he is not "out" any money. and if he already paid his monthly statement with the deposit charge on it then yes, that is his fault becuase he knew there was a problem so why would he pay the statement? if he has contacted the CC company they will open a file and put all those charges on hold until the billing company (COC) can be reached and solve the problem.
so really he should just be mad about how much bullshit he has to go through, not the fact that he feels he is owed 3 grand because really, COC hasnt even gotten 3 grand yet. its called CREDIT. not CASH.
 
yeah when you're calling to GIVE them money they're always quick to write back. But when you're calling to get your money BACK from them, the email's not waiting for you the net morning.

Best of luck to the thread creator. I've been working most of the summer to make about 3k and I'd be demoralized if something like that ever happened to me.

WHY THE FUCK SHOULD HE WANT HELP? Cause obviously he hasn't been able to do it himself and he came on here, posted a thread and hoped to what? Get his money back?

Forget the fact that I have personal cell numbers and years of dealing with COC. Forget the fact that I have never been ripped off in 10's of thousands of transactions. I don't like threads like this and just like the Windells thread there was a ton more to the story than what was posted. Had I not scrutinized the post, we would have never heard the whole Windells story, now would we?

 
the deposit idea was designed so that companies/businesses would get an amount of money no matter what. if you eventually did or didnt go thru with whatever you were spending money (in this case the camp), they would get the deposit regardless. that way if they denied other people of the spot or opportunity, they wouldnt lose all the profit they could have made. in that case, i dont expect coc to return the deposit (unless, like you said, they specifically stated they would, or its on their site stating they will which i highly doubt because it is a deposit) the only problem is that you have to prove they told you they would. if it says on the site they dont, then most likely you wont get it back. it sucks but thats what deposits are designed for

for the other $2000, coc prolly has on their site a certain period that you have to cancel the camp. whether it be before any of the camps start, a certain time after you pay, or a certain time before your specific camp starts. if you have records of the emails and calls, and atleast some of them (its better to have more than just 1) did occur before the required deadline, then theres no doubt that you should get the money back. if they occured after, well i guess thats up to coc and you giving them a bad rep isnt right. either way someones gonna lose money. if you did what they say must be done to cancel and refund money, then you'l get it back.

and i do feel bad that u dont have it back yet. i also feel for the other losses you spoke about. if like i said you did cancel before the required time, well then i feel for you and its bad business on their part to delay the refund like that. if you infact are in the wrong, well i dunno what else to say. sometimes shit happens and u cant do anythin about it.
 
bhaahaha, i wash dishes in the winters cos i love skiing so much, yes, i am a ski bum in the winters, it allows me to travel round the alps, i wash dishes in all different resorts, id rather work hours when the ski lifts are closed so that i can shred all day. as it is now, no, i would never be able to afford spending tens of thousands of $$$ on my kids ski camps, luckily, i am young, single, dont have kids and am able to have the time of my life, skiing as much as i do, i am making the most of my youth (not long left..). i have a good education and work for a global company in the summer, they value me as an employee, admire the passion i have for skiing and yea, trust, i will deffinately not ''always be washing dishes'' lol ... but thats besides the point.

unless you ASSUME the thread creator is LYING about not getting replies to his email and messages, then '' something very unusual and unfortunate HAS happened'', hence why mike_d has felt the need to make this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then the guy gets loads of people doubting him, which is why i wanted to stick up for, cos i ASSUME hes NOT LYING.

Let me ask everyone this: do you actually think Ken does this shit for the money? Let me quote him for you, hopefully accurately: "It's not about the money. It's about promoting skiing and snowboarding in Whistler." COC is not in it to rip anyone off. So whatever happened here, I don't believe for a second that that was anyone's intention.

Secondly, just from my own personal experience with the guys and girls at COC, they're a great group of people who run the camp really well and put up with a lot of crap, which takes more patience than I might be able to muster, and because of those efforts everyone there has a fucking amazing time and no one I've talked to this year left disappointed. I was super impressed with the whole enterprise and I give those guys a huge amount of credit for the work they do. I can't comment on this situation as it has nothing to do with me, but felt like putting in my two cents. I know I'm not alone on this one.
 
hmmmhh lets see hes a mod, and the position of a mod is to help people through their queries and make the site run smoothly...stop the hate rob is just trying to help the guy out....as posted above Ken sounds like a legit person so why hate against someone who is trying to help...especially Rob...the most helpful mod there is IMHO
 


it was a rhetorical question, i said it cos in the thread grandpasteez implied the thread creator was full of shit, which is the complete opposite of being helpful.

its great that grandpa sent a message offering to help, but later he further implied that the thread creator was full of shit cos he hadnt replied to grandpa's PM. thats why i said why the fuck would he want your help, im not surprised the guy didnt reply after grandpa implied he was lying.

the reason i pointed this out is cos grandpa did the same in the i hate windells thread saying he was gonna delete the thread, which is bullshit cos the thread creator had ever right to be pissed of (..to be fair, gramps did apologize for this later in the thread)

grandpa, if you got the cell numbers and are friends with the coc guy, and are such a helpful guy, then just help the kid out, like, call the coc guy and tell him to email the kid explaining why he isnt getting his $$$ back. like dont make the kid out to be a lyer and then wonder why he didnt reply to your PM. maybe start by apologizing to the kid??

honestly (from a neutral standpoint) after reading every post in this thread you do sound like a dick man (first time i've ever seen you be a dick on ns). YOU have had good customer service with them because you have spent loads of money with them, they know you, of course they are going to treat you well, that doesn't give you the right to hate on this kid or other people defending him or call them liars. this is one kid who bought one session and needed it refunded he should be getting that shit back. he shouldnt have to call every single day like you said they should have dealt with it within a couple days at most.
 
How about someone call up CoC and let them know this thread is here. Rob you seem to get them any time you call...let them know whats up so they can come on here and clear it up.

This is why this thread pisses me off. The kid makes an apparent anonymous plea for help by creation of this thread and then doesn't follow up? Reads my private messages, yet doesn't reply? Hasn't answered my email either....... Just as a test, I just got off the phone with COC --> they answered, as usual.
