Right now I've got a canon M30 with a handful of accessories that I am considering selling and picking up an HV30. I'd probably end up earning money after all's over, but I want to make sure I'm making the right choice. I shoot skiing, short films (for film class) and timelapses/nature films. Within the next 18 months I plan on upgrading to a DSLR, but I don't have that kind of money

anyways, as far as I'm aware, here are the pros and cons of switching to the HV

Pros: Better image quality

More manual control

much better manual focus

more potential as far as upgrading and stuff

more information on hacks and such

no money lost and possibly money gained

Cons: DV vs. Flash

Would take time to buy and sell

My polarizing filter wouldn't work with it

That's about it though. Thoughts? comments?

BTW here's some of my work

Also, i can get an HV30 with a manny focus ring+other accessories for $350, or a HV40 for Just over $400 and have to spend $50 on the focus ring+buy other accessories

is it worth it?

look at the hfs100 i think its called, its the flash version of the hv series

i dont think you can hack it like the HV's if thats at all important to you, i have an hf200 and i know you cant
