what lense you want depends on what you want to use it for. im guessing the stock len is something olike a 35 - 80mm 4.0/5.6F lense??? its actually quite useful. for real low light stuff i like my 50mm 1.8F lense. some kind of wide angle might be useful as might something like a 70 - 200mm zoom. it all depends on what you are doing. the more you spend the better the lense will be. there are ridiculous amounts of lenses about. work out what you want it for, whether you really need it and then come back and get some good advice(or as close as you'll get on NS) ;)

I would assume, since you are an avid photgrapher, you want a pretty versatiel lens? Canon makes some pretty cool zoom lenses, I am not exactly sure of the lengths, but something like a 50mm - 105mm, or 45mm - 90mm...or if you want a slower lens, a 70mm - 300mm or a 100mm - 300mm. It really depends on what you want to do and how much you want to spend. I would look at Sigma and Tokina, but you are getting what you pay for...there lenses distort at the edges... the pincushion isn't too great either...but check 'em out. Any more questions, message me.

dude you have a ton of options. Look at the canon lenses first, but they are expensive but good. Tamron makes some real nice EOS lenses and sigma makes some good ones too. Just shop around for them
