so the next big expensive thing i'm going to buy is a cam corder. but the problem is i dont know much about today's latest cameras and stuff. so i'm asking you guys.

whats a good camera i can get for 500 dollars. or around there. i'll be using it on the mountain and to film skiing and all. so what should i get? all i've ever used is a mini dv. and i would like to get better quality than that.

thanks for your help

there actually would not eb much better quality than mini dv because mini dv is a format now you can film to flash cards but that is mostly on hd cameras like the hvx 200 that i dont think is not in your price range (talking about 4 grands altest for a used one). now the quality is determined by the captors.. in most cameras that are good quality youll want a 3ccd camera or for hd a cmos sensor. if your not planning of going hd yet. id say you could get a panasonic dvx 100 used for about 1800 or a canon gl2 for 1500 and less and a sony vx 200 or 2100 for 1400 around and around 2000 new. but as of hd a small consumer camera that gives you a great image and you can shoot in 24p is the canon hv20 that ranges i prices from 600 used to 900 new. but be more specific and for amy questions or reccomendations send me a personal message

sorry i didnT' see te 500 price range... i would go for a hv 20 for an hd camera off ebay or a panasonic gs serie camera witch are 3ccd's and give really ncie colours and the price is really incredible for the quality of the.. oyu can probably get one for aroud 500 or less with accesories. i would not reccoment anything from jvc and sony cameras in that price range are not worth it at all so a gs serie camera is your best shot

^^ thanks a lot. i think it gave me a good start to what to start looking at.

if anybody else has any suggestions, like, what i should be looking at, what the certain stuff does on the camcorder, or any websites that give out good info on stuff.

thanks
