camera "freezes"

I have a Nikon coolpix 3100 that won't boot saying there is not battery power remaining with alkaline or lithium batterie (rechargable and normal) this happens when the camera is in the inside pocket of my jacket. Anyone have an idea of what's happening or how to solve it? Same thing is happening to my 3rd Gen Ipod by the way

today went skiing and it was minus fucking 31 with windchill. anyways, put a hot pad in the camera pouch and out the camera batteries side first in the pouche and tada! worked as a beauty! can send pics of the set up if anyone needs...

My cam freezes too, it happens a lot with the less pricy cams...just stay warm
