with biking season coming up quick, ill be shooting alot. i currently have a completly stock canon digirebel xt with an ef-s 18- 55mm lens. im really not sure whether to get a bigger lens, a fisheye, or an external flash. either one is arguable in my mind, but probly the flash most. as ill be shooting in woods, you dont have as much light, and its alot harder to get a good focused shot on your subject, cause there are trees and leaves everywhere. if i am to get an external flash id like the option of it being either wireless, or having a cable attachment with the flash on a tripod. anyone with some insight care to give any tips on what would be best to get, and around how much one of these set ups will run me?

dawg dont get a flash!!

You are shooting fast stuff and your camera cant shoot as high FPS if you have a flash on top of it. Right now you have pretty much only have a wide angle lens, and if you want just the right angle for your shots your gonna have to get what all actoin photographers need and thats a lens having at least 200mm in length. Getting more light in your picts is up to you. Try using a little higher iso and shoot were there is a break of son in the trees

look at getting a 430EX for a flash, and maybe like a 70-200 lens. either a f/4 canon or 2/8 sigma will run you 5-6 hundred if you can find a used one (check www.photo.net classifieds) and the 430 will run around 250, although you can get a sigma flash for less.

hmm there was as decent lookin 70 -200 canon lens at a store near by that was like 250.. probem is i just bought a laptop, and am about to buy a dh pass, so im tight on cash at this point its one thing or another, so youd say get a longer lenz as oppesed to a wide angle?

its tha trufe dont go with ritz they jack shit up. And dont get a wide angle, because youre not gonna get that close. Thats not saying you should never get a wide angle especialy for biking because a lot of people like to take the shots with the landscape as the main subject and the biker just passing through like in a lot of BIKE magazine shots. The bottom line is if you wanna get into photography and you like these shots, dont go alf ass in.

im shooting extreme sports for more than 3 years now..dor the woods you will definetely need some pocket wizard wireless transmittes and receivers for your flash , ive got 3 pocket wizards/ one transmitter and two transreceivers..and two 580 ex speedlites , a canon 350 d , 16 mm fish , 50 mm f 1, 8 , the 18 -55 mm and the sigam 70-200 hsm 2,8 , wich is obviousl the best objective , but first go for the receivers and transmitters and the flashs ,these things might be the most important for shooting in the forest-.-

peace
