Camera "Checklist"?

So I have the following: T3i with Kit Lens, a decent tripod, steadi-cam, and extra batteries.What are the next few things I should be purchasing, IN ORDER? I have only been "seriously" filming for like 3 months now so I'm not ready to make any HUGE purchases.

I am looking these products right now:

investing in good glass can never go wrong, and having a good tripod, you said decent, idk if that means like one out of a closet or something better haha
 
I lol at my self as well sometimes. Of course I'm not at the level you are, but if you have any suggestions hit me up.
 
what tripod do you have?

def get the tamron 17-50 first as well as a decent tripod. Get a ND and UV filter for that as well.

Vintage 50mm or 35mm prime. Pentax 50mm f/1.8 I have heard good things about. Mad cheap to. I wouldnt worry about a fisheye or tele lens until you have shot enough with your tamron and decide what you need. You may think you need a wide angle when you really dont.

rode mic shouldnt come until you have decent glass, and decent stabiliaztion.

oh yeah, and get vimeo plus. youtube fucking sucks
 
Stabilization can include a tripod to.. not just stedicam/glidecam

Get the 701/055XB package. Believe me, you will love it. that tripod will cause really shaky pans and tilts.
 
not sure of the good brands for these but the mm size will depend on the size of the lens you are putting them on. its the diameter, so the end of your lens should say somethin in the 70mm diameter range. but look to see what it is exactly so you don't get the wrong size filters
 
Hey man, if you have only been filming for 3 months, I am assuming not to often. Just go out and shoot, I see you posting on here all the time about what gear to get. If you have the money, then sure go for it, but good gear will not make you a good filmer. Good practice will make you a good filmer.
 
personally i would rather have the tokina 11-16 f/2.8 over the fisheye. it's much more versatile, but also obviously much more expensive.

you should also definitely invest in a good tripod. if you actually intend on getting very serious about filming, a quality tripod is crucial. i know a 701 might seem like a big investment, but it isn't. it's actually on the cheap end of tripods. a true quality tripod will be more in the $800 and up range, but i understand that that is a lot of money. i bought a 501 setup a few years ago (came out to like $350 or so, which i thought was a shit ton for a tripod), but now it's falling apart. i've come to realize that manfrottos are pretty meh and i won't be buying one again. now i'm going to have to spend $1000 or more on a new tripod setup, and i wish i had just spent that much in the first place so i wouldn't have to be replacing a tripod at this point. a true quality tripod, like a Sachtler, will last much longer.
 
If you want to follow the archetypical ski film road, follow these steps:

1. Upgrade your kit lens - obviously got that going with the Tamron. MAKE SURE TO GET A POLARIZING (and/or ND) FILTER AND A UV FILTER AS WELL

2. Upgrade your stabilization - Whether that be your tripod, steadicam, fig rig or whatever you get down with, make sure it's up to par. make sure you pick up a QR plate if you go with a steadicam

3. Get mo lenses - I honestly feel that one can't have enough lenses. You're really limiting yourself by only working with a 17-50 focal length.

4. Get your other shit - Mics, sliders, etc. The first three steps will help you estabolish a good base to get started on.
