Im thinking about buying a camcorder, and spending under 400. Does anyone have any suggestions? i would like to be able to hook it up to my computer to do editing, and i was wondering what i need to get to do so. (as far as what type of camera, and how it actually hooks up to my comp.) Thanks a bunch.

im doing the same thing you are and i was deciding between the canon zr60, sony trv19, some jvc cam, and the panasonic PVDV203. the video quality on the jvc and the canon isnt that great and the sony is too expensive. the panasonic has a 1/4' ccd and i thought it was the best bang for the buck. you'll need to buy a firewire pci card for your comp which will run you about $30 probably. also, dl premiere off kazaa to edit the video.

Rhimer you should by my old one. Its been through tough times but it is a great camera.

check if its digital or hi 8 you want digital 8 check for night vision, steady shot, added light, optical zoom, and digital zoom. also check out other interesting features

ok, only get a digi one to start. or dig 8. thats so you can easily get on on your computer. 2nd you want to check ccd size, effective pixels, horizontal res. if you want to go more up scale, check for manual controls, white balance, manual focus, shutter speed etc. other than that, just go off other peoples recomendations

wha wha what? where did you find a zr45mc for 150?

''hey look, his skis are on backwards! You're one of those crazy tricksters, i can tell''- old man in the lift line

the zr45 will serve you fine for shooting like home clips of skiing and shit to show online and other stuff, but blowing it up to tv wont look amazing

basically its the tape size, digi 8 tapes are bigger and cheaper, but from what i hear have lower quality video. what i'd look for in a camera is for a 1ccd, a large ccd, 1/4 is good, the zr's have a 1/6, manual controls (focus ring, exposure, white balance and shutter speed), i like canons, cause they have good video for snow, and have a variety of manual controls. check out reviews on lots of cameras, i probably forgot some important stuff, check out digitalskate.net and shumways.net for good information
