Camcorder Reccomendations

Im in the market for a new camcorder... trying to stay under $1000 bucks... hd is a must but my biggest thing is stabilization. Anybody have any thoughts on what camera is best for moving/jumping shots?

Get a gopro!

I know it doesnt have zoom, or even a screen to see what your filming, but if you think about it, you dont really need that stuff for about 90% of filming you do while skiing. Stabilization is good because you stick it on the most stable part of your body (your head).. It's also only 300 bucks and it shoots 1080p video and comes with a huge wide angle standard.

I made this using mine the other day.. Just an example

yeah that vid was sick but i can't deal withou a zoom or seeing what you are filming... mostly because i need the camera for stuff other than skiing so a go pro isnt an option

Go Pros are great as a second camera. as for what your looking for i cant believe no one has said HV40

Im sure you could find one for 1100 or less.

I highly recommend one, i love my HV40, and my Go Pro

I have a Panasonic HDC SD20 and it seems to be pretty good. It's HD and flash so no moving parts o be interupted when jumping etc. The zoom is fantastic but stabilization is reduced when zooming. It has 5.1 audio but wind noise is a bit of a problem - can easily be cured with a little foam taped over the top mic. Will be taking it O/S to film some stuff.

yeah i have a panasonic right now... theres a problem with Panasonic not being recognized as wide screen in sony vegas so thats a no go... its a good Std. Def. camcorder but my next one wil not be a panasonic... unless someone has some uber praise for one
