whats your honest opinion on the canon g9. i want something i can be creative with, but i dont want to lug around a huge dslr. i feel very limited with my point and shoot and want something different.

if size is the only issue, maybe look at the nikon d40. its really small compared to some of the other dslr's (its also cheap compared to bigger ones b/c its a lower end cam [still pretty sweet though])

I have a G9, and it's really great for a carry-everywhere camera, but I'm thinking about getting a tiny SLR instead.

I think I'm going to sell it and get a Canon Rebel XSi and a 20mm prime lens...... that setup is BARELY bigger than a G9, and it's a full out SLR.

for point and shoot the sony dsc-w300 takes really good quality pictures and does amazing close up at like 5cm, and has manual control i have one that i loved but i moved up to a dslr which would be my recommendation

the g9 is sweet but nothing beats a dslr the canon rebel XT is awesome, it's cheap as hell, you can use almost every canon lens made, it has a small screen which sucks but it has a seprate screen that displays all of the settings (apprature, ISO, shutter speed, frames left, metering, etc.), it's nice to see all of the photo setting when you're really learning how to use the camera and adjust everything. but you could easily get an XT with a decent lens for as much as a g9 and it isn't too much bigger, just a different much more awkward shape.

don't forget amazon.com. I've been surprised with their prices before. I've ordered from both amazon and BH and they're both legit.

and the g9 could def work for you. theres no point in buying a big dslr if you won't be carrying it around with you !

i had a dream about you last night (no homo). I was walking down the street and i saw you and was like whats up allen
