the more you run the more you like it. It sucks while racing but the satisfaction you get out of it is worth it. Nice way to stay in shape too!

Yeah I run.... Championships this weekend, then one more week of practice.... Then one more year of cross country. Shit.

Ya I run pretty much gave up skiing for it and I used to compete. Makes me sad everyday haha. But I film a good amount now so its all good This is my first year running in college. Check this kid out, Erik van Engen. Kid was a nasty skier filmed with ski the east ECT. Then quit skiing to pursue track. Ran in College at Binghamton University and broke 4 minutes in the mile which is fucking crazy. He ran 3:57. Heres an edit of him. Kid was crazy good for his time.

I ran XC all through high school and it was a ton of fun being on the team. The races were always super hard though. My freshman year I pushed myself so hard I would puke after every race.

Pretty sure the "runners high" is cuz your body is dying and your brain figures you might as well die happy

Word, there is a lot of crossover between skiing and xc running up here in AK

I loved running. Only did XC my senior year though. The team had died for a few years. Me and some friends got it going again, found a coach.

I miss running several miles a day. Even in recess when I was as young as 3rd grade it wasn't uncommon for me to run a mile or so. I think 2nd or 3rd grade I ran the 4 ish miles home from school one day for fun.(My dad rode his bike to make sure I didn't die or get kidnapped)

/cool stories hansel

When you hit your stride, get your breathing cadence set and you're in the zone. It doesn't matter what's going on, if you're going up a hill, down a hill, flat, you're just cruising. It's beautiful.

I haven't run in over a year now. Unfortunately I don't think I'll eve be able to again because of my head.

Yo fuck cross country.

Actually I don't really have anything against it, just all the xc people I've meant have the same mentality as racers do towards park skiers.

And it's funny because the xc runners that would talk shit are the slowest people in the school.

Play a 2hr long soccer game (run about 7-9 miles) then talk to me.

But skiing is the shit over everything

Wordd, once you hit that zone running is unearthly. Feels great. Fortunately (or unfortuntaley) I was pretty fast in middle school so when I got to high school I was expected to run fast. I'm a sophmore right now and my team has a solid chance at qualifying for my state meet, so I'm happy. Also just ran a 16:53 PR for the 5k!!

Thanks man, 18:44 is a solid time as well. That's like 6:00 pace throughout, nice job man

My friend was a freshman last year and he ran a 16:47. He got surgery this year so he is out. Op is salty cause he is the next fastest sophmore in our conference. Love ya ethan

I wasn't that fast at shorter distance like XC, or really running in general, but I could keep a good pace. I think most of my xc times were around 20, some over a bit.

Ran a 7 min flat mile in 3rd grade, and I don't think I ever broke 6 min even when I grew up, although in high school I don't think I ever did just a mile and timed it.

On the plus I could run the same pace for several miles and not die though. Always wanted to run a marathon but didn't know how, there wasn't anything even remotely near wear I grew up. Then after high school I stopped running.

I guess I'll never be able to put that 26.2 bumped sticker on my car lolz.(jokes, I want to throw things at people that have a huge 26.2 and 13.1 sticker on their car) Like really? You want 26 miles just for a bumper sticker?

In college now so my XC days are long gone, but ran from freshman through senior year. Pretty awesome times.

yessss. Just got 4th in my state meet (Alaska) and I'm gonna be running at Nike Cross Northwest and Footlocker West too! my PR for now is 16:22 but I'm hoping to go sub 16 at Nike!

Nice for a sophmore thats great. I Ran 16:16 in HS. Unfortunately I was stupid and didn't really run track. Once you get to where you are the only way to get faster is by getting ur mile and 2 mile time down during track. This will help a ton when cross season comes. But i ran track senior year and it helped so much. Especially for college cause we run 8k. So going through 5k at 16:25-16:30ish is tough when you have 2 miles to go haha.

I don't know if you know the Olar brothers but they are on my team and run 15:30 - 15:50 PR's

I can run a 6:15 mile but I have never even considered XC. School sports just piss me off in general. If you don't play school sports around here, nobody gives a fuck about you.

What kind of soccer do you play where games are 120 minutes...?

In conference, regional and state finals it is not unusual for a game to go into double overtime and then a shootout. Which totals 120 minutes

We've got a few park skiers on my team. We run in the state park and look for cliff jumps and urban shit.

XC-wise i'm competitive as hell. Anyone wanna compare race times?

did you have a meet today? i had a solid PR of 16:27

Our season just finished, and our last practice (if you want to call it that) was a mile time trial on the track. I ran a 5:05, and I'm super confident on breaking 5 during the track season. My 5k pr is 18:14 and I'm a sophomore, so I hope that by junior or senior year I can be running in the 16's.

im a sophmore too dude, i think you can def be 16s by senior year. My first mile in my race yesterday was 5:07, which was insane for me. My mile PR is 4:55 but i don't run track. 5:05 is a very solid time man nice job

Ran XC my senior year of high school. Now I enjoy longer races like the 10k and the half marathon.

I run distance track but we spend more time trail running and Mountain biking than running on the track... Then we ski like a junkie buys coke so I guess that counts.

I ran XC in elementary and high school. I was pretty good until grade 11-12 when people started joining running clubs and kicking my ass.

then I realized I really hate running and I only liked it cause I was good at it.

I met some newschoolers at a meet in NY one time true story
