Callout on PX12 jib bindings (pictures)

alright so i bought the 06/07 px12 jib bindings (green). I skied them on ar6 skis last year, and this year. Plus both summers, probably got about 80 or more ski days on them. Well this year i went to Colorado, and upon casing a 540 the binding completely ripped out of the screw, and i had a shop fix it. Then the very next day one of the pieces on the back completely ripped out on the same trick.

Now later in the year, 2 weekends ago i was skiing mount hood and once again the whole they broke. The back piece completely ripped out through metal. This was on just landing a little sideways trying a hand drag. Then later in the day i look again, only to see that the screws completely ripped thepart of the ski base out. Also my friend Big_Spence had these binding's brakes rip out on him trying his backyard setup. I do not recomend these bindings to anybody now.











Note: Does anybody think it is worth calling for a warranty on them?

 
I had that happen to mine on my trip out west this winter... bought a second set out there and then they did the same thing again. my heel pieces looked exactly like that.. and my toe pieces snapped off. Rossi warranteed them no problem. Even though my original set was 4 years old.

I moved on the the Mojo 15's.... super bomber bindings
 
Two things:

1st- The original mount wasn't done right, and that will cause problems in the future, so make sure it's a local shop that mounts your skis in the future, not something like Aspen Sports, or some shit because they usually have a bunch of morons working for them, no offense to those who work there and KNOW what they are doing. Local shops are run by people who really have a passion for the sport, and know how to treat your gear with care. I've seen some fucked up mounts come out of the bigger companies

2nd- You definitely want to warranty these, I don't know how long Look warranty goes for, but it's worth a shot. That would be a manufacturer defect for sure, you might be able to warranty the skis also. since you shouldn't have ripped out in the first place. Armada is pretty tight though.
 
alright good tips. I have been super busy with the school year coming to an end, but i will try to call up and warranty both of them this weekend.

Also you are right about the mounting. That is the reason the screws ripped out the very first time. They were mounted by some shop guys up at hood (Timberline) that summer. None of my local shops in my town even are very aware about centermounting, besides a couple of my friends getting them mounted in town, so i'm a bit skeptical about getting them mounted here.
 
Put some masking tape ove the center of the ski length wise )I( Measure out the ski, over the topsheet with the tape measure pulled tight, then divide that number by 2. Then measure from the tail to the center with the number you got, and mark it. Now do the same but this time from the tip, you will see that it's about 1cm difference from the tip and tail rise, so split the difference from the 2 marks and that is yourdead center, now put another piece of masking tape over the ski horizontally so it looks like so )+(, and mark where the center is. and tell them to mount at that spot (unles going back a few cm) and use the correct size bit for that binding.
 
Call warranty, be nice, and they will take care of you. Here is there number. 435-252-3300, that will get you the Rossignol Group receptionist, ask her for Kevin or Nick in warranty.

Secondly, that model had an extremely small clip in the heal, which has now been improved to have this exact situation not occur.

I did this last season (approximately 120 days) on a pair of Griffons, and they are still going strong. nothing wrong with them yet, the springs softened up a bit, but i just did one whole din higher, and no problem
 
80 days for a huge season? I expect my binders to last at least three years, and my three year average at this point is 90 days.

Good luck with the warranty. Rossi/Look has always treated me really well with warranty issues.
 
Yeah dude. I hate it when people bag on Griffons for being cheap plastic even though you never see any threads about people bitching about how their Griffons broke. I have never seen a thread like that. I love Marker bindings. IMO, they are superior over all the other brands. They also look the best.
 
I have an old pair of Marker MRR Race bindings (DIN 8-18), the ones with the pivoting heel, and those I keep at the minimum because they are the most bombproof binding out there, torque tested perfect, there is no deadspot on the ski since all the screws are under your boot, so the ski flexes evenly. MY FAVORITE BINDING!!! Probably even better than the FKS or Pivot that everybody on newschooolers worships
 
Definitely. Marker is fairly pricey, but is well worth it. Plus the Griffon and Jester are nice and light too. They helped keep my Hellbents nice and light. I will only buy Marker from now on. They have never failed me and they make a good product.
 
Dude that sucks.. I've been riding axial2Ti 120s in the park for a few years now on a couple diff skis and they've been bomber for me.. I don't need a din higher than 12 in the park anyway and i've beat the shit out of them without any problems.. the new ones are set up diff in the heel so your problem doesnt happen anymore too. I'm surprised none of mine have broken because I usually rip the heel apart on any other 12 din i've ridden.. try to warranty them dude, looks like you're already in the process :) best of luck man
 
I called in. Going to send the PX12s in to the warranty center. It will take about 3-4 days to get there and then i will find out what will happen with them from there.
 
Update: I called in and they told me to send the bindings in. I sent them in and talked to "kevin" just now. He was very helpful and they are going to replace the bindings and send them back to me sometime this summer. As for the skis...I think they are done-zo.
