Back in February I expressed interest in buying some Seth's with bindings from a member on here, Kev-Hal. We arranged on a price and agreed to meet up to get the skis. He was in some urgent need to get money for them so I actually send the money ahead of time using Priority next-day mail.

He was living in the Collingwood area at the time so he had agreed to meet up in Barrie. My girlfriend's parents live near Barrie and arranged to meet Kevin at a central location to pick up the skis for me, as he had already received the checque. He never ended up showing and would not answer his cell phone that day to give any indication that he was on his way, or if he wouldn't be able to make it. They waited in a parking lot for an hour for this guy and then left.

He contacts me a day or two later and says he would be able to ship the skis. I said forget it. I didn't want to deal with some guy who made two people wait for an hour without even contacting them, or even apoligizing to me for his fuck-up. I told him I would be cancelling the checque and forget about the whole deal.

I thought this thing was over until.... August 18th I check my bank statement and the guy tried to cash the checque 7 months after this deal should have gone through. Stupidly, I had forgotten to call the bank and have the cheque cancelled. There was insufficient funds in my account so Kevin didn't get a dime. However, I was charged a $42.50 NSF fee. I don't think I should be responsible for paying the fee. I'm very glad I had insufficient funds and he was unable to take $445 from my account (which would have been even more of a sleezy, asshole move)

I tried to contact Kevin via his cell and email with no response for 3 days now. Does anyone know this guy or how to contact him? He seems to know a few big names on NS. I would appreciate it if you guys could help me on this.

 
that sucks amigo and i hope you can get your $42 back but how could you not remember to cancel a check for $445? thats a hefty chunk a dough
 
Im going to say this might all be a misundrstanding.

A couple months ago when i delt with him he was SUPER legit.
 
I hope it is just a misunderstanding too. Trying to contact the guy and not getting a response for 3 days does seem a bit suspicious to me right now, unless he is away somewhere.
 
So the two PM's a tried to make never went through to Kevin. I think he blocked me on NS for some reason, though I'm not sure why as I only ever PM'd him a handful of times to set up this deal back in February.

Could someone please PM me for him and ask him to check his hotmail? He was on NS sometime today so maybe he checks in here more often than his email. Thanks!
 
damn thats shitty. Go to your bank and say they didnt cash it for 7 months and make some stuff up and your bank should refund your INS fee

Im sorry it blows getting ripped off from someone, but it is absolutely nobody's fault but your own fault for forgetting to cancel that check.

did he tell you why he tried to cash the check? i don't really see how trying to cash a check and take 400+ dollars from someone is a misunderstanding.
 
Ya the trying to cash a check is not a misunderstanding. he Knew what he was trying to do, and that was make some free money off somebody else.
 
i swear theres something behind it , or someones not telling the truth. And my bets are on the OP, because Kev-Hal is DEFENATLEY legit.
 
FYI...

I never asked anyone to ban Kevin. I don't think that being banned from NS would solve anything here. He was away, has returned, and we are now trying to work things out. Many people have vouched for his legit-ness and I don't doubt that... This was probably just a silly mistake.

To whoever banned him, please unban... THANKS
 
I know I am not really part of this. But to me it looks like Kev is legit because if he was not he would have cashed the check that very day or a lot sooner then 7 months later.

I'll start with what happened in Barrie. I wanted to make sure that everything went good, and there was no problems. So my friend and I decided to head there on the Saturday night, and grab a hotel room so we could meet up no prob on Sunday morning with your girlfriends parents. We went out to the bar on Saturday to make the most of our time there, and ran into some bullshit at the bar. My buddy was talking to some girl he knew from awhile ago, and her current boyfriend wasn't a fan of that situation. So some drama happened at the bar, and carried on outside the bar. That all ended up with my friend and I spending the night in the drunk tank. Others guys got to go home, must be a local thing. Anyway, when spending a night in a holding cell, you kinda lose some of your privileges. One of them would be the use of a cell phone, and another would be the right to leave when you want. We got to leave just before 11am on the Sunday morning, which is pretty late if you ask me. My cell battery was dead when I got it back, so I couldn't even turn it on. By the time we got back the hotel and checked out and got my car, it was about 12. So there was no meeting up that day. I felt like shit about it, and you had a right to be mad. I let you know I tried to make it, and said sorry. I offered to ship the skis, but you weren't down with that.
As far as what happened with the cheque. Yeah that is bullshit, and i'm sorry. It is my fault for being as stupid as I am I guess. I never tried to fuck you over though.
I lost my job awhile ago, and things have been tight lately. (this isn't going where you think it is!) I've always lived with a few people, but there has been only 3 of us living in my house for awhile. And we were still getting by fine. One of my roomates started a job in Huntsville though. So instead of driving a few hours to and from work everyday, he decided to move there. Now me and one person living in my house wasn't gonna work. So a couple weeks ago, or whenever it was I decided I was going to move out of the master bedroom, into a smaller room. This is because we need to get a couple more people living here, and I could rent the master for more money. I've always been pretty bad with misplacing stuff, so when I was moving out of my room and found a cheque, I was like what the fuck is this? I've sold tones of stuff using the internet through more then just newschoolers. I always prefer to use paypal, but accept cheques and cash. I also misplaced cheques before, and just deposited them when I find them. I should have definitely tried a little harder to remember what the cheque was from. I'm really sorry, but I wasn't trying to fuck you over.
Now my situation right now is pretty shitty too though. Because there wasn't a hold on the cheque, so I withdrew the money right away, along with pretty much the rest of the money I had in the bank. That was to pay to travel my friends wedding that I just got home from. I don't have overdraft on my account, and once the bank saw the cheque didn't clear they took the money back from me, obviously. So now I am in the negatives pretty far. And I think that with the interest, it will cost me close to $40 too. That's not your problem though.
Anyway though, I am going to make it up to you. I don't have the cash to give you right now. If you want to wait until I do, I will get it to you when I can? I can offer you something else though. I have a couple pairs of crowbars In mint condition. You can mix and match the parts however you want to build one pair. If you want to keep them or sell them, that is up to you? You would be able to sell them for a good $75 US (about $82 CAN) on newschoolers pretty fast though, because all the parts are brand new or 9/10. Or you can just keep them and rock them yourself!
I know it's not the money you lost, BUT I think this is better. Hopefully you agree?

I've been super busy this week. And I will continue to be busy through the weekend. Now that my friend is married. He is having a huge reception here at home on Saturday, for all the friends and family who weren't at the wedding. I've been helping him a lot with getting everything together for that.The reason i'm telling you that, is because I might not be able to reply to you as fast as I normally would. I'd be able to get you goggles shipped out early next week though, if you decide that will make up for this situation?

Glad you are back on the site and that this mess could be resolved.

As I'm sure you guys can gather from Kevin's response he is a legit guy. Do not let this little misunderstanding get in the way of any future deals with this guy. If anything, I think you guys can respect his responses enough to be encouraged to deal with him.

Just wanted to post up and say that this whole mess is sorted out.Shipped Sean a pair of crowbars today. So he should have them next week sometime.
