Alright, turns out I've got patellofemoral, which basically means my patella is out of its normal position because the muscles in my leg are too weak in some places and too strong in others.

The only real symptom is pain, and it gets really bad during the season, as in if I ski a moguls run my day is ruined. I went to kicking horse the day after a huge pow day, and took a moguls run to get to the hut by the stairway to heaven lift, and my day was finished pretty much.

I've been doing some exercises to strengthen the muscle in front of my shinbone, directly behind the knee, and the muscles on the inside of the knee. I've been stretching my legs lots too, and doing stationary biking.

If anyone knows of any dietary supplements, exercises, or stretches that have helped them with this, I would really appreciate it if you could post them.

i dont know any stretches off the top of my head, but if you haven't ever been to a chiropractor, i strongly suggest it. they aren't just for your back like everyone thinks. I swear by my chiro, hes helped several ligament/joint problems ive had as a result to sports. seriously. do it.

i don't really know any except running, and a lot of stretching which should help give you a wider range of motion and help you from getting hurt

if the whole chiropractor thing isnt feasible...

ice

warm up

balancing exercises...if you have a balancing board like a jew-do, its supposed to help (like the other kid said, longboarding would help)

wearing shoes that provide good support (helps absolutely any ailment of the lower body)

Go to a Physical Therapist. When my spine was being twisted cause one side of my back was stronger than the other, they fixed it. PT is legit. My petella's are all over the place too, but thats because all the ligaments in my body are loose, unfortunately.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking, just wanted a second opinion first.

Keep the ideas coming though, let me know if you've had any experience with this before, and if you have let me know how long it took to fix!

She's probably got the right idea at this point. Chiropractic is more preventive.

Good luck with your patella, im out.
