If I have a shoe size of any where from 10-10.5 will I fit in Salomon SPK Pro size 27.5 (9.5)? Because I heard that they run alot bigger in there size. I cant go to a shop to try them on so thats out of the picture. I had the SPK's in 26.5 last year so I know that I will like them alot. Now i just need to know what size.

Help me!!! +++K

NO. I would definatley not do that. Like you said they do pack out but not that much. I dont know how much more your foot is going to grow but i would go into at least a 28. I wear a 9 1/2 shoe and im doing a 28 spk boot. So unless you like your boot really tight id go bigger. If you go to a boot fitter they can punch the shell out or grind it out. But i wouldnt go that small if i were you. if you got any more questions just hit me up.

new idea, you never give anyone boot advice again.

I am a size 9 shoe, I ski in a size 7 (25) boot with no problems. A boot that is too big will cause way more problems then a boot that is too small, not to mention the problems will be much more dangerous, and harmful then those from a boot that is too small. And yes the liner will pack out immensely.

I nor anyone else on here can suggest a size for you with out knowing your shell fit. however you probably will be better off with the 27 or even a 26 then the 28.

woooooow. thats crazy. no hate intended. I wear 9 1/2 shoe and there is NO WAY i could every go into a 27. But yeah like you said its easier to get a smaller boot cus you can easily grind it out. But i still would go with a 28 espicially with a 10 1/2 boot. i would say if you wana go smaller than a 28 then go 27.5 at the least. I wear 9 1/2 shoe and i orignally had 27 1/2 but i wanted a little more room in the toe box so i got 28. JUST GO TO A BOOT FITTER. lol. dont take advice from us cus we dont even know the shell fit.

spot on.

In every brand of Alpine Ski Boots, there is no such thing as a half size. Basically, the shell in a 26.0 and a 26.5 are the same. The same applies for a 27.0 and a 27.5, etc. So, what makes them different? Basically, in some brands of boots, the liner in a 27.0 would be slightly thicker than the liner in a 27.5, in order to take up more room in the shell, in the end, both liners will pack out almost the same, so the difference is almost negligible. In other brands of boots the liner is the same thickness for both sizes, however the footbed is thicker in the 27.0 as compared to the footbed in the 27.5. Most people prefer to use custom footbeds in their ski boots, which means that by removing the stock footbed the 27.0 and the 27.5 become the same size. In other brands of boots both the thickness of the liner as well as the thickness of the footbed changes. In any case, the difference between the fit of a 27.0 and 27.5 is not very noticeable and in most cases is not noticeable at all.

^CORRECT

my foot measures 9.75 exactly on a branack device (spelling?) and I wear a 26.5 COMFORTABLY. fit your boot like a ski boot, not like shoe.

Don't go too big. I wear a 10.5 shoe, and 26 boots. They're the right length for my foot. However, going too tight isn't necessarily a good thing either. I had bad fitting boots last season (not the length, but the instep, toebox, and heel of the boot were fitted bad to my foot), and they cut off my circulation, and I lost 2 toenails.
Moral of the story: get fitted by someone who really knows what they're talking about. Fit tight, but not painful. I thought painfully tight was good last season, and my feet were in pain to the point where skiing wasn't as much fun.

I wear a 10- 10.5 and just picked up some 27. 5 SPK's. If you get a 28, you will probably be fine for a while, but when the liner packs out you will be wishing your boots fit better. That's just my advice anyway.

DEFINITLY go get fitted, ime a 10.5 shoe size, and i wear a 26.5 boot with a 289 bsl, so if i went by my shoe size i would have a boot 2-3sizes to big for me. so GO TO A BOOT FITTER

Thanks guys for all of your imput. i cant go to a boot fitter though, but i DID have spk's last year and last year i had a SHOE size of 9 and i was wearing a BOOT size of 26.5...

Do you think i should go 28.5?

alright I am going to give you as much help as a can over the internet. however you need to remember this will not be as good of help as it would be if you were to see a boot fitter. Ok, first take your current boots, pull the liners out and slide your foot in the shell, Move your foot so that your toes touch the front of the boot, with your foot centered in the boot width wise. Now lean forward, take your hand and use your fingers to measure the distance between your heel and the back of the boot, The idea fit is 2 fingers widths. you don't want to go over this but it is ok to go under, at 1 finger it will be too small. at 1.5 fingers it will be ok. So anyway, measure the distance, if you can get one finger in with quite a bit of excess space (up to two fingers), your current boots are fine, and new boots would be too big. If you can get from about half a finger (guess) upto one finger in there (slight extra space), go to a size 27/27.5, If there is really no room whatsoever go with the 28. Think of it this way when you go up a size the boot gets 1cm bigger, so the number of sizes you go up should be equal to or less then the number of cm you are short from 2 fingers.

That is the best that I can do with out being there, I am not guaranteeing that it will fit, but it would be better then guessing and going with the 28 when it is too big. But think about it your foot went one size up, so why would your boots go two sizes bigger?

no offence man, but you dont have a clue how a boot is supposed to fit.
xavier is 100% on the ball.
to the thread creator...
i wear a 10.5 shoe, and i just ordered 26.5 boots. (8.5)
go to a bootfitter i dont think you know how a boot is supposed to fit either.

on a side note...i swear some people should just not be able to give advice sometimes...

and dont mean to be a stickler...
but if u have 1 finger behind the heel thats not to small...when i do performance fits, i shell fit with a 1cm wooden dowel(sp?)...and i know of race fits that have a pencil behind their heel, but in this instance that might be a little overkill lol.
if you wear a 10.5 shoe, there is almost NO WAY you should be in anything bigger than a 27.5...and if i am correct with an assumption, that is even having a bit of growth room.
do the shell test and get back to us.

you guys stress length of the boot way too much. Yes a shell fit for length is good, but what about shell fit for width, etc. as well? It's about overall volume of the boot rather than whether or not your toes touch standing flat and pull off flexing forward....for the average customer

You make a good point. During a shell fit if you can't slide your foot almost 1 cm side to side without touching it is a bad fit. If you can move it more than 1cm or less than 1 cm it is too wide or too narrow.

we shell fit for volume too, Just not going to bother here because he already has SPK's and won't be convinced out of them.

As for the shell fit, 1cm is pretty damn small. I would not want to do that much boot work. and for racers using a pencil, well they take their boots off affter two runs.

and the boot that breaks on the 24.5 is the 08.09 Lange Exclusive series. they have a different shell size for the 24, 24.5 and 25. this is the only place that it breaks on the half size, a 23.5 is the same as a 23. 25.5 is the same as a 25. Hows that for a fun fact. only on the 08.09 boots, not on the 07.08 boots.

noneof the shops carry SPK's where i live... and i have new dalbello rampages size 28 and they fit good just to narrow

it's hard to gauge what size boot you need based upon what size shoe you wear. everyone wears shoes differently. some kids get shoes that are two sizes bigger than what they need because they like the sloppy fit. some people (like myself) wear shoes that are really tight all around. the best way to decide what size boot you need is to go to a shop, even if they don't sell the spk, and get measured with a mondo point sizer. put your foot on it. see what numbers are beside the end of your toes. that's what size boot you need to buy. i can't tell you how many people will come into my shop and swear up and down that they need a 29.5 because they wear a size 11.5 shoe and then i finally get them to let me measure their foot and it's not a hair over 27.0. please get your foot measured. there is absolutely no way anyone can tell you what size you need over the internet.
