Where is the best place to ski in VT? and why?

it could be cuz of their park...snow...or..back country...

I'm looking for a good mtn to ski at when not working.

I know of Smuggs and Jay already.

mad river in my opinion has the best powder stashes. there are so many glades that are so sick and you could ski them a million times without taking the same line. there is also pretty many sweet little cliffs around in the woods. it doesnt have a park but there are some natural jumps and some log rail around if you know where to go

i personally like mt snow. the north face is super nice ungroomed with lots of snow. the park is right at my level, too. last season on friday night we got 14 inches of powder, all saturday i skied the park. you could bail so hard and it wouldnt hurt. then sunday the park was packed so i skied the north face all day and it was super nice.

all mountains are expensive on the east coast. espeacially the good ones.

theres a couple alright trees at mt snow but they get skied out so quick and they dont even compare to stowe or jay. and the 'steeps' are very little. 1 short 37 degree icy bumped up headwall.

jay is sick, but if you want a park/pipe as well as sick trees, stowe. jays park isnt worth riding, and the pow is just so good you wont want to anyways. i think stowe has a perfect balance on everything.

stowe gets so much credit for their park when it is a piece!!! it is so bad. their pipe is even shittier. smuggs and stowe have some of the most challanging terrain around. smuggs wins park/pipe wise. jay is for the snowy days.

yeah, last season the lips sucked. that pretty much destroyed the park. sick jibs though. i never even think abotu skiing the pipe, its not worth it.

but as far as having everything(trees, snow, park) stowe wins. there arent many mountains with that. you either have sick park, or crazy terrain and snow. stowe is the closest to having both out of the places i have skied. i hope they fix those lips for next season..

i ski at jay but theyre park sux so i need to find a relativly close mtn to ski that has a good park...and good pipe

smuggs park is a piece of shit.... my local mountin which is 300 ft tall has a better park than smuggs. I was there this year. they had one table which was an icy piece of shit and like 2 or 3 iffy rails. The pipe had walls of ice and was full of powder so it was virtually impossible to air out no matter how good you are. Maybe i just caught a bad week though

All east coast mountains aren't expensive. Mad River is like $42 for a ticket and Magic Mountain is even cheaper. Magic has all the hidden stashes you could ask for and well MRG is mad dank.

mills im sure u caught a bad week. considering the jump was ice and the pipe was ice and full of snow let me guess u were there during part of that time when it was like -40 all week. smuggs has no park, they have the jump/jumps over on the tbar. the pipe is ill.

as a kid i used to like to like riding in the car with my head out the window. i would do it all the time. until one day a car was coming. my head hit a dogs head, and my head knocked the dogs head off. now i dont lean out the window anymore.
 
jay is overrated...and for those of you who think stowe's too expensive...you're doing it wrong. gallant skiied an entire week at stowe for free when i got his ass and amanda's poaching. in fact, of the 15 people i brought up w/me last year over a good 35 skiing day span...none of them paid for a ticket.

okemo isnt great, it is overrated, stowe is expensive, same with stratton

probably mad river or mount snow,

but if you want REAl skiing come down to CT and ski SUNDOWN

i sleep at the terrain park
 
jay is fucking rad for BC go off the back side and hike the mtn behind it ski that and hike back up jay. if u have enough snow itll be so worth it

The Big Brom is pretty rad. Small, but really nice park. Usally not too crowed. Some good runs if you know where to look. It's no Jay or Stratton, but a cool mountain.

Mad River takes the cake, and luckily it's 20 minutes away from my homeland, it's so cheap there too 45$ for adult full day 33 for JR which includes HS students and if you are apart of the coop it's 37 adult and lie 25 or something for JR and I can assure you that getting a free pass there is not hard. I've heard from everyone that Smuggs had a sick park this year and I am so pissed because I have a free pass up there for my team and I didn't make it up there once the entire season. Jay isn't that great but whenever I'm there the glades are so nice, but you still have to factor in all of the disgusting french canadian old men who will hit on you...

And then Trogdor smote the Kerreck, and all was laid to burnination.

personnally. i think jay is pretty nice. but i just hate the park!!!they are pretty cheap thuogh. and i have skied at killington and pico before but they arent worth the 2hr trip. and i heard okemo was pretty nice on snow days. but im prettty much stuck between stowe and smuggs because they are the closest.

crazedskier, you dont have to hike back up jay after skiing big jay. you ride the logging rodes down to the highway, where your supposed to park your car. and theres never not enough snow. its jay.

smugglers' notch is great BC and has always had a rocking pipe when i've gone. jay rocks BC but it is way far up there. OKEMO for park and pipe riding.

Killington, Sugarbush, or Magic. Killington is huge and is first to open last to close. The church at sugarbush is awsome espicially after a snow storm, and magic there is no one there so if there's a snow storm you get powder runs all day.

 
Why does everyone think Okemo and Stratton are good they suck they have all right parks but so does just about most mountains. There both intermaidate skiers paridise

 
stratton is awesome..parkwise FREEZE said it to be be the best in the east coast

i ski mount snow which is awesome except for it gets packed in the parks so i usually stay on the north face and ski in the trees.

when there's pow, go to jay. otherwise, mt. snow and stratton are sweet. my dad was a ski patroller at snow so we would get free passes.

...then we moved to mass :-(

 
where on the ec are you from shelli, ya stratton can get sick pow pow, ha i was there thanksgiving weekend and they had pow in the forrest a lil sketch but deff sick, plus there park is always going off deff an ill mtn
