My friends have started a website, supported by the red cross, which helps lifeguards find jobs in their area.

is it only a database of pools certified by red cross? or does it cover star guard, and ellis and others.
 
Oh shit I'm a lifeguard. But my pool only affiliates with the LifeSaving Society. Guys lifeguarding is boring as shit...teach swimming lessons instead its way more fun!
 
pay may be, idk. but we will try to list all pools that are on the red cross list, and also ones that aren't, however, those will come later. We are starting on the east coast in CT, but are hoping to expand first throughout the whole east coast, then across the rest of the country. but as of now, we need more sponsors and things. Trust me. this site will be big in a few months
 
too bad I'm FINALLY DONE with lifeguarding

my certification expires next year but I'm way over it. too boring, too little pay, and my boss was super chill when he wasn't working but when he was working he was a huge asshole.

Now onto some other lowly paying job!
 
yep. BSA certification. yes I know it's dumb that that one lasts for 3 years but I also have my red cross one which expired this year anyways.
 
hahah ours at star guard lasts a year. and we get audited a couple times to make sure we know our shit
 
red cross lasts a year. We get checked twice a summer, I didn't work during the school year so I wouldn't know how much they check during then. But I still know my shit so I think if I wanted to do a retest I could but I really don't want to. I'll let someone else handle lives, thank you very much.
 
yea im a lifeguard for low income housing pools.

people are chill, if you are chill too.

of course some lifeguards are dicks and when you work at the willowtree this is what happens.

All my quals are good for 2 years. Like everything. And I work for a recreation and competition pool so we get a lot of gnarly shit there. Like we have olympic divers and swimmers n shit and competitions every weekend. And all the competitions have catering service...so we get served snacks while guarding...and I make $12 an hour and $16 an hour to teach swimming lessons
