you wanna know why becuase, the 'cab', invented by steve cabellero is a spin where you take off switch and spin frontside. now the switch thing we have down, but theres no 'frontside' or 'backside' w/ skis...only natural and unnatural with are completely differnt things

^you can't do a cab in skiing unless your spinning on a hip or a rail, because cab specifies a 'fakie frontside' spin. Which can't really relate skiing because we don't have two ways of going backwards, like in skateboarding and snowboarding.

I'm fine with people calling something a 'half cab' or a 'cab' spin because you know what they are talking about, but it's not really a good idea in genral to start taking names from skateboarding when they don't translate very well.

cab is for skateboarding.or snowboarding. steve cabrelario(sp?) did it or 'invented'it in skateing. for example. half CAB heel flip. its a fakie 180 heel flip. it doesnt apply to skiing but it can still amke sense i guess. i would just say switch. if every body would just say switch then we wouldnt even have to disscuss this

dude i always say half cab (switch1) but then i say switch3. i dunno know why but it seems more natural to say half cab on and 270 out for me. it's a skating thing and i prefer the term.

you could make a switch 1 a real cab... just come in looking over your left shuolder and spin left, that would be the equivalent of frontside, backside would be spinning right from looking over the left... which would be weird.
