cab 7 vs. cab 9

hi,

sorry to ask such a lame question:

i was reading about the WSI comp. and it says 'cemented Tanner Hall's win as he pulled off a clean cab 7 and a cab 9 with solid landings '

i thought cab meant taking off switch, doing a spin and then landing switch, so i understand the cab 7 part, but then the cab 9 wouldn't make any sense.

any help ?

i totally understand the switch part, but then why is freeze and espn (on their X-Games & US Open converage) using Cab instead of switch. the fakie vs. switch thing was bad enough...

trying to co-opt a skating term to make skiing more 'cool' ?

cab is just another name for switch... cab 9 = switch 900. you don't gotta land back switch.

whatever skiing is a copy of a sport.. i think tricks should be either frontside or backside.. then the grab name... this rodeo, misty, cork, dspin crap is shit...

i dont mean copy.. like style and shit but copy as in names of tricks... but whatever the leaders of our sport are crack addicts so who knows whats gonna happen.

cab, is named after the skater rick cabalerro (i think) or however you say it. thats what i always thought. it's just a generalized term for switch.

yah the Caballerial was how it started.. his fakie 3's in the halfpipe on skate was the caballerial.. so half of that would be 180 so they call a fakie 180 a half-cab.. somewhere along the way snowboarders picked it up as taking off switch and spinning(usu. frontside when switch) so some homo confused us with snowboarding and started to use the same cab shit.. but it works for me i guess.. doesn't sound very skiing though

how the blood clot am I supposed to do a FS on skis? and I'm not talking about rails. There's natural and unnatural, and even though I think those are terrible terms, what else is there?

Also, a CAB in skiing is a switch spin. A CAB in snowboarding is a switch frontside spin, if I'm not mistaken.

Also, I have no problem 'copying' snowboard style...have been doing it since I learned loops back in the day....WHAT!

I believe its steve cabillero, an old skater from the bones brigade. I think the trick was originally a switch 180, then it got named a cab 180, then cab meant switch from then on, cab 360, 540 whatever. It doesnt really matter, but it means switch. I hate this naming shit, whether its names from another sport or different names for a slightly different hand position (toxic vs. tail grab). Whatever.

frontside as in front flip rotations like misty, cork, and backside is backflippin rotations, dspin, rodeo, and whatever..

then for example cab 900=switch frontside 900.

those are on snowboard ofcourse ´cause there´s no bs or fs spins on skis

it's dumb . . . it's a switch 7, not cab 7, we're not skateboarders. it's a tail grab, not a 'toxic' grab . . . call it what it is
