I’m thinking of buying a pair of dropkicks from 2016, they have only been worn once. Has the technology in the new Fulltilts/k2’s changed so much that I wouldn’t want to wear them? Should I just invest in new boots?

Dude Full Tilts were designed in 1979. Back then they were called "Flexons" and sold by the company "Raichle". They were as good then as they are now, not much has changed substantially for the most part — biggest changes are in some boots they have better straps and buckles, as well as replaceable heel and toe pieces and better plastics.
I'm sure someone is gonna call me out on some technicality.
I have 2012 dropkicks and they feel the same as my friends 2020 dropkicks minus the liner is warmer and in better condition. My liner is original and is still comfy with probably like 200+ days on it.
They use the exact molds as they're making today, so as long as they weren't stored out in the sun or something for the past six years (which would degrade the plastic), they should feel basically like new. I still occasionally wear my TW Pros from like 2011. Go for it.
