Buying first video camera.

I am currently trying to figure out what kind of video camera to get. I'm not willing to spend much more than $300 and I want to use it for mainly filming skiing. I'm not even sure which features I need to focus on getting. Any help? For instance, should I get HD? Also, I did searchbar this but nothing I saw was very current. Oh, and finally, I use a mac if that matters at all.

didntt even read about the fist camera once I saw it was sanyo and not sony.. the second one, eh avchd is probably something you dont want to deal with.

just saying this from personal experience, hdd cams can be a hassle and i always had trouble uploading

if your budget is only 300 a good hd is going to be hard to find

if u r using imovie to edit then whether its hd or not shouldnt matter, imovie makes everything look dope

but if u have finalcut it is probably worth paying a little more for a camera

This part of your post makes absolutely no sense. Don't post if you don't know what you're talking about.

My first video camera was an HV20 right when It came out, I got it off airmiles, you might be able to get like the HV40 on airmiles now. It is an awesome camera, right out of the box it shoots nice video even when you are totally inexperienced. You can also add onto it with the wide angle and the mic shoe once you start using it more you will find what you need. Also there is a limited amount of manual settings that you can play around with which will make it easier if you upgrade to a prosumer camera.
This camera is still my main camera and works well for what I need in a camera. The only complaint I have it lack of a nice manual focus, and for filming stuff like rails and follow cams you pretty much will want to invest in a wide angle lense.
