Buying an HD camera

Hmmm...just curious: what's your price range? How serious are you going to be into video (are you trying to learn and progress)?

...because generally I'd just say that's a waste of money. Rule of thumb: stick with Sony, Panasonic, and Canon.

I'd say save your money and buy something a little better.

try and find one thats 1080 if ur spending all that money save up another 75 bucks and get a referbished hv30
 
720 vs 1080 is so hard to actually tell when you see a video online/dvd. I'd much rather shoot 720 for two reasons (unless i could shoot 1080p) because 720p >1080i and the files are smaller than 1080i. But like i said, if i could shoot 1080p i would do it, but there is barely any noticeable difference, especially to the amateur eye.
 
But, it is. It uses a 2:3 pulldown when recording to the P2 card, then it "unwraps" itself when you go to capture. It's just a way to save space on the P2 cards. It breaks the image up into 2 fields, then it gets put back together when you go to capture. People assume that because it says 1080i24pa that it's going to give you a final product of 1080i, which is false. The hvx/hpx is a 1080p camera. It's very misleading.

1080i24pa will give you the final product of 1080p footage.

see this is waht pisses me off everyone just hates on any camera site that they dont reconize, Henreys is a huge corperation in Canada and has tones of stores and is very legit ive bought all my shit there. dont spit on a name unless you have a reason to

and as for me, im just looking to make some cool edits and fool around not going too serious so would the Hv30 still be the best option? i feel like it might be a tad bit more than i need but then again i dont really know much on this subject...?
 
if your just playin around dude get a flip even the non hd one looks pretty good, my brother has one and on our 46'' edited stuff looks pretty great, and if you want a little better spend a few ,more bucks get the hd one
 
HV30 is a great option. I have the Hv20 and it really takes stunning picture. It has some basic manual controls, but it also has full auto for when you're feeling lazy. It's not too heavy or large, and has a really easy format to work with when editing.
As for Henry's, I did not research the website before I posted however, it really does have the same exact aesthetic appearance as the really sketchy websites. Anyways, it's your money, so if you trust your money with them, that's all that matters.
 
first off i recomenended a refurbished hv 30 and that was above his price range than he said he just wanted something to play around an make some edits with, and since he wanted hd i made that sugustion, so im just throwing out some ideas for him...more than ur response is doing dude
 
my friend has a flip cam, or maybe it was the sanyo equivalent. it really produced a terrible image. the worst 'wobble' i've ever seen,
