Buying a wakeboard

I've single skied forever and have wakeboarded some, I can clear the wake and what not. I work at a houseboat camp and we're only getting wakeboard boats this year so I'm thinking I'll be spending a lot less time on my ski, any advice for buying a wakeboard? I'm 6'2 190, I'm thinking over getting an intermediate to advance board.

jesus. 142+ is huge, i rode my bros 138 and it feels big. im 6 feet and i ride a 134.

no def 140+.. id get liquid force.... i dont have my one of my own, but i've liked all the ones ive rode.. sooo who knows

yeah, get a hyperlite or liquidforce, they make the raddest stuff.....rite now i have a hyperlite byerly board with liquidforce Sphyx bindings and its a really fun setup

blahblahblah

go to buywake.com and ya you want a 140cm+. I like LF, they are a core company but if your a waterskier too that might not be a concern for you. also every board rides diffrent. what have you rode on in the past? if it was on a beginner type board you may not want a super aggressive board. they will cut fast, be looser and less forgiving. Also because of your weight you might want a continuous rocker. 3 stage rockers tend to plow through the water for heavyer dudes. you get more pop from a 3 stage but if you are behind a boat with decent wake it dosent really matter. The LF trip or the team) might be a good board for you .

Yo buy my wakeboarrd, i have a 2003 Hyperlite Premire 140. I bought it new at the beginning of last summer, and used it prolly 20 times. I dont have a boat, and my friend who does just moved. I wann get $250 for it and will throw in a pair of used liquid force ultra suction bindings. Lemme know if you are interested. I will send you pics if you would like.

i dont recommend liquidforce, they're a popular choice though. connelly is definately on the rise with the quality of their boards, mine is the absolute plantinum as of the moment, and it rips. i used to ride the hyperlite belmont, which is the choice board of some pros. hyperlite isnt a bad company to go, but i think connelly is where it is at.

that is a pretty good deal

I've ridden a couple of boards, I liked the Belmont best, not sure what size, but i'm guessing 143. If also ridden a cwb, platnium maybe? I might be making that up, didn't like it, way too lose for me. Then some low end liquid force boards that we have at the camp. I'm looking at the Hyperlite 3DS, maybe with ERA bindings. I might also try to find a belmont, has anybody used the LF alpha bindings?

The LF alphas are 229 on the house.. i have always used obriens just cuz the ppl i ride with got them free.. i dont really like them.. but i havnt really rode any binding i like.. i wanna get last yr obrien vixen womens specific.. but not clue what bindings b/c ive never liked any that ive rode

^^yeah the platinum has a loose feel, but it has so much more explosiveness off the wake for a nice pop. i feel like i just pop up so high on small jumps

i have an older 140 belmont board with a season newer belmont bindings, im a pretty big guy, 6'2" 200 lbs, and i really like it. it tracks great and i like the length, definately get some good boots though, it made all the difference for me, something with laces, or ratchets so you can really lock your feet in, i dunno, maybe its just me but i do much better with good boots, my brother has an older byerly board but for some reason it seems super squirrelly to me....

Bob: i want Jon's autograph

me: i will see what i can do

Bob: u grab the swedish bastard by the ears and tell him bob dake wants his autograph and hand him my card

im about 510 or 511, i ride a liquid force evolution with evo bindingss, weght about 130, and im fine. the baord is very frogivving. its last years model and tis sweet.

Actualy Hyperlite is the farthest thing from "core." They are a subdivision of HO Sports, the biggest name in waterskiing. Not that I don't like Hyperlite or anything, they make good shit.

Right now I'm on a Blindside McKee 141. It's a wicked board. Good tracking, tons of pop. This board loves to fly. Check it out.

If that's american prices i have no idea about prices.

If that's canadian snag it.

As far as the board goes, It's a good board. It's a good fast with a consistent pop.

i dont think anything in wakeboarding is "core" yet, its just not big enough yet, but its on the rise quick.....and i dont see how anybody could say hyperlite does not make good stuff. Their cores are extremely light and strong with the DNA and Biolite 2, and everything they make is sooper quality

blahblahblah

Not to get into the core argument but LF is a pure wake company and they also supported cassette wakeskates in the beginning, that and they sponsor my buddy so naturally I am bias toward LF. What ive noticed is that hyperlight tends to be heavier but more durable so if you are gonna hit lots of sliders or are generally hard on shit you might want to go with hyperlite. I ride the LF team 139 right now with ultras and i love that set up but i have also rode teh balance and subjekt and also liked them. So to the guy asking about the team/sphinx set up... buywake had these prices; 379.00/299.00 so not a bad deal. The board is fast and loose I ride w/o the center fin though.

liquid force makes kites and kiteboards.... definitely not a pure wake company as stated above; but that fact makes them even better in my books.

What is it with girls riding big boards??

I ride a 142 Hyperlite Byerly Belmont and all my guy friends ride like max 138.

But honestly the lenght of the board is what you feel confortable on... same as skis... so if you have buddies with a wide variety of boards try differnt lenghts before you buy or makre sure your shop has a good return policy if you dont like your board.

Couple good friends, couple cold beers, couple HUGE puddles all equal a wicked night on the farm...

Thank god for the country

I rode the board this weekend. I liked it a lot, just lose enough for me, I felt really comfortable on this board, and the bindings are amazing.

Get waterskis and freestyle waterski. like imagine a switch 10 on water skis. i would make that sport legit if i had a lake within a 300 km radius of my house.
