Buying a used car in Vancouver area

Flying into Vancouver at the end of the month and needing to buy a car for around $1500. Can anyone give me any advice on where to look or know of anyone selling anything?

Where are you coming from and how old are you/what's your driving history like? Your insurance could easily be more than $1,000/year even on a complete piece of crap with no C&C. Definitely do not go to any car lots in that price range, craigslist and kijiji.ca only.

thanks for the advice guys, I'm 19 and from New Zealand, gonna be spending a season at Kicking Horse so doesnt need to be that flash.

Not too worried about insurance costs as I'm only going to be in the country for 6 months at the most, more worried about not being able to find something that doesnt have winter tires. I was told that if I'm living in Golden that cars dont need to be aircared?
