Buying a sportbike (R6)

The expressway. At 70 mph I was at 9k rpm. I mostly ride on the expressway, to and from school (60 miles each way). Otherwise it was a great bike, but an R6 will last me a long time, probably until I'm done riding.

good choice i like the looks of the new ones better.

Insurance is that much for you? I was looking at getting a bike at the beginning of the summer and it was only $236 for 6 months for me. I'm 20 and I rolled a car doing 100 when i was 17 and was in another accident that wasnt my fault. I put that stuff in when i requested a quote and it was still only $236. Did you shop around?

depends on how u ride the bike for gas milage. 40mpg would really be with a lot of fast accelerations id think. doing mostly highway miles will get you much more then that

im assumeing you have a license and gear both look like good bikes test dirive both of them but if you dont have gear go with the second one and 6700 miles on a bike is not alot anyway i kinda wanna know what you decide because im saving for one right now also

Well I'll be financing the bike, so I need full insurance on it. Right now, it depends on insurance rates. I've called a couple of places and I'm waiting on quotes.

I did not mention gas mileage anywhere in my post... I want an r6 for expressway riding. On the 250, at 70mph it was at 9k rpm (redline at 13k). Gas mileage drops dramatically on a 250 riding on the expressway anyway.

Yeah insurance is high because the R6 is listed as a performance bike... I've dished out the Benji's for insurance too. If you can get around financing, do it. It will drop insurance to prob 3-400. Also age has as much or more to do with the pricing than driving record.

Make sure you find out if they had done any wheelies on them. A few here and there won't hurt them but if done often and by power shifting through the gears while on end, the second gear will go out. So many people beat them up and sell them right before 2nd drops out of it. This is much more important than finding out it was driven fast. The engines are made for high revving and going fast... just not made to power shift through wheelies.
