Buyer's remorse for skis.

How about it? Anyone ever regret buying the skis they bought? That happened to me for the first time this season. After being on the same 1080s since 2000, and a first generation Pocket Rocket, I decided to retire the PRs (actually I sold them to a hot hot girl on the chairlift for $200, fuck). So anyway after demoing and talking to reps, I finally got some Volkl Karma 177 from the Volkl rep (after much hassling). I loved them for most of the season, but they werent nearly as good as the Pocket Rockets. Now after finishing the season, I hate them. Too heavy, too stiff for my skiing, just too cumbersome. I could throw 720s on my pocket rockets like they were nothing, now I'm having trouble keeping my shit together on any air, even a 360 with a grab. It pisses me off, and I wish I would have never bought them.

ya... i bought line assassins with line bindings... horrible, skis are falling apart and i went through 3 bindings in 1 month because they kept breaking.

why would you ever ask such a dumb question.

volkl karmas are sick and if you would rather have pr's over karmas, you need to toughen up a bit dude.

i rock the pow like none other

the weight shouldnt affect you THAT much...i went from the old 1260s(pretty light) to mad trix (super heavy) and there was hardly a difference in my skiing.

ill be super rich and own mt.hood and let everybody from ns ski for free... except freezed

In 7th grade I bought a Dragon Ball Z game ( I dont even like Dragon Ball Z) for my Gameboy Advance. It was the worst game I have every played and I had terrible buyer's remorse after 5 minutes of playing. I was so pissed for like a week. I still have it if anyone wants to buy it.

Karmas are a way better ski than PR's. Karmas are prolly the best all mtn twin out there. Fuck, Volkl vs. Salomon shouldn't be a question. Go to the gym and streghten your legs.

hahaha i'm getting a lot of support here. Keep it up!

I'm a pretty solid skier I think, I've been skiing for almost 20 years, I've been on twin tips since the original blackbase 1080s, and I've lived in CO and skied Abasin and Vail constantly for a few years too. I consider myself a pretty well rounded skier with many years of racing on VERY stiff skis, and I don't consider the Karmas very good skis. They just have TONS of hype around them. eh whatever, to each his own

ill trade you some of last years ar5s for them

if you've been skiing on "VERY stiff skis" then what the hell were you doing on pocket rockets? those are probably the softest, noodliest skis i've ever rode. they're for 50 year old men who don't want to over exert their knees and legs. they were super chattery at speeds and it's a fact that foam breaks down over time so they loose their pop despite their lightness.

but i'm sorry you had buyer's remorse. we've all been there.

WHY would you ever buy volkal skis? i would rather snowboard then ride those ugly ass fence posts

I got the PRs off ebay because I was in college and poor, and I loved them. They are soft, yes, but they are quick to turn, lightweight but fat enough to handle Mt. Hood's powder, which is what I used thme for. When I'm out freeskiing or in the park, I don't really want a super stiff, heavy ski, ala the SuperAxe Equip 3v factory skis I used to race on, you couldn't bend those bitches a bit. I want a ski that I can throw around and be quick with, but big enough and heavy enough to handle steeps, cliffs, powder, and crud. For me that was the pocket rocket. The Karmas are awsome skis, no doubt about that, but for my tastes they are overly heavy and stiff. Last year, I skied the Elan 777, Atomic SugarDaddy, Dynastar Nobis Intuiv, and some other lightweight twins, so I got on some other skis to compare. Some of those are pretty heavy skis too if I recall.

I bought my Volkl Expressions because of a major lack of money. I mean a major lack of money, with university and quit my shitty job. I can't so much say i regret buying them, because i paid next to nothing for them, but the turning radius is shit, and they are really skinny sticks. I would love to upgrade but i have less money now then before. But they're skis under my feet, they are a good length, and so far only 2 cracked edges.

Here Comes A Special Boy!

I've skied on the original V-Pros (black ones, 190cm, 01/02 maybe?) for the last three seasons. For sure I loved them as an all mountain ski but I know what you mean - they're too stiff for the park (and I'm pretty heavy). The weight isn't a problem for me though - you get used to it. I've remounted mine 3cm back of true centre and they ride SO much nicer switch now, but they're still hard to ollie and pretty much impossible to butter. If you can't get new skis, remount them, it helped me out a LOT.

armadas r sick, ill never regret it

I'm glad you posted this. I am also a fan of Solomon. Ive been skiing 1080s for a few years and love em. I'm probably going to retire them to park only and get some pocket rockets for more stability in the back country.

Fuck the groomers

I offer you a truce ... the stickiest of the icky.

well if you go from 1080s, which have what seems to be a styrofoam core, to volkls, which have the beefiest construction out of all other skis, you definately wont be able to do shit. do some squats or somthing.
