I myself, and everyone I can think of would miss a lot of things you buy. These include things like heat, electricity, the internet, comfortable clothes, the convienence of being able to buy a bagel and some turkey from the store (or any other food), cars, gasoline, bikes, ski's, hot water, books, books, health care, etc.

Yah, I'd say a lot of people couldn't cope and make their own food/shelter. I'd say they'd be fucked. I would probably be too.

it goes like this: person x is ignorant to all sorts of things, one of them being our mass consumption. person y tells person x about BND. person x thinks it's stupid and utterly pointless. BUT, the idea of BND is now in the head of person x, and they in turn tell persons w, z and q. now four more people (x, w, z, q) have some idea of what BND is all about, and even though 4 people buying nothing for 1 out of 365 days will accomplish nothing, at least their ignorance in relation to mass consumption is lifted, if only slightly.

As for third world countries....why do you think they are in the state they are in? YOu think that these companies give us a higher quality of life? maybe, but only at the expense of other, poorer countries. the misdistribution of food causes millions to starve to death. the problems are endless. first world 'civilized' countries have exploited poorer countries for hundreds of years. America, Britain, France, Spain, all divided up Africa, took their resources (diamonds, gold, etc), their people (who built the railroads? who farmed the fields?) we destroyed their infastructure, we force them to grow what we want.....countries only allowed to grow coffee for North American consumption when they could be feeding their people. If something matters to you follow through with it, let others know what your doing so they can find out about it and join if it interests them but don't bash on someone's personal decision. I disagree with Burton so I stopped buying they're stuff. I disagree with how animals are raised and killed so I only eat seafood or fish if I have the opportunity. the reason that i laughed (hard) was because the united states has single handedly destroyed more lives then any other nation, through war and dominance overseas to neglect at home. but i digress... your right, the states does have many charities, and humanitarian funds, but like many people i see through it. Their providing afghanistan and iraq with aid, after they shock and terrorize civilians and show the american people and the world nothing for efforts. iraq and afghani civilians are dying for nothing.
