This is a statement to corprate America and it's Image around the world. It is a global date, and is gaining momentum around the world. Make sure you don't buy anything that day......make a statement, back up your beliefs, back up all your talk. Don't buy SHit!

The purpose of this idea is to make a statement, not by inflicting monetary harm on corporations (since you will need to buy what you need that day before or after) but by the very act of what is in essence a legal form of mass civil disobedience.

Some people agree with this idea, some do not (I don't). Is it really that hard for people on both sides of the issue to support a view without lambasting those on the other side? Just because someone doesn't want to spend no money on the 23rd skipimp, doesn't necessarily make them ignorant, naive, or any of the other terms you've thrown out there.

now I didn't read everything here because I'm eatin right now.... but the only way to change major corporations is to not buy from them EVERY day, not just once, because not buying on one day but going back to that same company the next only proves how much you need (or feel the need) to buy from them. If you want to do something be concious always, buy from people who support what you want and don't buy from the people that are against what you believe in.

Do these very same corporations care about your opinions? Fuck NO! If people buy their products and services, they could give a rats ass if you are happy. The only reason companies have some sort of business ethics (IE Body shop, no animal testing) is so they can appeal to a certain demographic (ethical people, anti-corporate people).

Now, I don't buy shit thats made in sweatshops by companies like the Gap or Nike. It would be fucking dumb to buy nothing, if everyone bought nothing our economic system would fall apart, our standard of living would go to shambles. It would fuck everyone. Think about what you want. What exactly are you trying to do? Seriously. What would it achieve if all of a sudden everyone stopped buying things? It would fuck us all.

Speaking of taking classes, I suggest a macroeconomics class.

Im taking Ecotourism in school, and it's my life goal to build a tree top hostel deep in the forest in BC. Am I a hippie? i don't have a label, but I'd radther be a hippy than a suit contributing to the destruction of all life on earth.
