if anyone doesnt know what a butter looks like, watch boyd easly i believe in session 1242, he does some rather sick ones, or tanner does a nice tail press thing, and wow tanner got out of the park this year

 
its where you spin rather smoothly on the tip or tails, as if you were skiing on a butter like substance, or if you had pre-applied a butter like substance to your base, therefore enabling you to butter. hence the name butterslide. HA

dude, I'm sorry, but to whoever posted the theory that butters got their name because it's like you're skiing on butter: WRONG.

it got it's name from snowboarding. when snowboarders do it on the take off of a jump, it looks like they're spreading butter, like a knife on bread. brah.
