Buttering?

i just got new 08 line invaders, and unlike my old ski they can butter really well. only problem is its pretty hard for me to do. even when im staying still, leaning up on my tips kills the shit out of my heels, cause they dig into the back of my boot.

any advice on butter 1's?

If your boots are causing you so much pain that you need to come on NS for advice on how to nose butter 1... I can only suggest that you invest in some better fitting boots.

Ok, I'm gonna try to help you.

You have to pop like spinning a real 180 and lean a little forward to butter. At the beginning, it won't be a real butter, but as you get better it will. Just try to remember to pop a little rather than putting weight up front and trying to turn. That's how I learned to butter.

for 180s, learn normal 180s and then start popping more off your heels and keeping pressure on your nose. for 3s you should find a nice quick roller or the knuckle of a jump and really send it and commit your body weight so that you sort of pop off your skis at 180.

i got a few tips for ya

first, its easier to do them when your going off of the noll of a jump (not the actual jump, but where the table goes to the landing, there is the sharp change in angle and right there its easiest to butter off of (that, or a similar hump of snow, but rember, the steeper the better because you pop out of the spin more on a steeper one)).

you should go into it with speed (not super fast, but its easier when you have some speed)

i find it easier to get yourself sort of in a snow plow stance, then wind up to spin, but dont throw your body forward, throw it to the side (the snowplow helps get your body to the side) because once you start your spin and get up onto the tips of your skis for the butter, you will already be about 90 degrees into the spin. at this point you should be 90 degrees into the spin and up on your nose. when you come around to about 180, maybe a little more, you should now come off of the lip/noll and you will sort of pop out and get a 360 around (you gotta time it so that is when you pass over the noll though). from there you just take it around to a 3, 5, or however much you wanna spin.

just play around a bit with it and you will get em.

that doesnt sound like a butter, its all one continuos motion. just throw like a cork rotation(right hand towards back of left) and lean. this will put you 180 over your tips, and after getting comfotable with this and at higher speeds the last 180 just pops around.

i obviously need to practice, but i feel like the only way that would ever end up would be with me double ejecting onto my face^

and practice practice practice. i used to barely get off the ground at all but now i can get some pretty legit ones

it might not just be your boots too, this year for some reason I don't know, (I have the same boots as last year) I developed a problem with the back of my achilles tendon or heal area, something like a thickened tendon, anyways its super painful and I've had to get footbeds to correct it

anyways if i were you I'd certainly figure out whats causing your sore heal before its too late, then learn butters...

to be specific, you need to get some boots that fit the shape of your foot. Your boots could have 5 days on them for all we know, but obviously don't fit your individual foot shape well enough to hold your heels in.
