Buttering on stiff skis

I've got the volkl bridges, and maybe i'm just a puss, but they're pretty stiff, and i can barely butter at all, let alone go any further, so i was just wondering if there was anything special i should be doing, or should i just dive at the ground like i've been doing?

Gain some weight.

Honestly, you aren't gonna be able to do it. If you wanna butter, then just demo some softer skis for the day.

well, im gonna be real with you. If you wanted to butter, you shoulda gotten a different ski. The point is obvious, the reason why a ski is made stiff for the park is so that when you hit large jumps you DONT butter out and die. So basically if you wanna flex that stiff ski, your gonna have to push real hard. If you wanted to butter on a ski, shoudl look for a ski with a little more "fun" to it, ie invaders, anthems, you know.

ye ive got one soft pair of skis and a stiff pair. with the stiff ones i kind of force it by pickin my feet up off the ground as i lean forward.

I think stiff skis were meant to be stiff so they would be a little stabler on jumps. not to butter like invaders or fujatives

the more you try to butter them, the more broken in and the softer they will get. my mojos are soft as hell now in the nose. the tail is still a 2x4.

yea man i got 180 mad trix and some prophets, not a good set of buttering skis, if i throw it down hard on the mad trix i can get em though

well, your style of riding is kind of determined by your skis, to a point. my advice would be to go through puberty, gain 40 lbs and grow 10 inches, aquire some strength and flex that shit. you can't remain a child forever.

i can butter my stiff skis, but it's so hard to do that i wouldn't count on them buttering onto rails or anything like that.

haha, hopefully ill be able to do some on my thrusters, but im also 190/6'4", so ive got a decent amount of torque.

word i've been tryin butters on my mojo's and i have to basically fake butter hahaha (i.e. kinda jump and press tips while doing 180) but i think i'll get them broken in to the point i can butter decently haha.

you really just got to throw your weight, on stiffer skis it just takes more commitment and maybe a bit of strength.

dude you're not doing it right then, cause those skis are sooo soft. just give a realll good lean into that shit, you should be leaning enough that if you fuck up, you'll land on your ass.

that is weird. Invaders butter pretty much automatically for me. all i have to do is lean a wee bit and spin, and I weigh 10 pound smore than you. I can also butter on my PEs no problem thoguh and tehy are way stiffer.

Original Chronics - not gonna happen. If I wanna "butter" I usually just hop hard and drag the very tips of the ski, cause the boards flex about 1/2 an inch if I acually lean on them.

But then again I use them more for dropping cliffs and slaying n00bs than I do park skiing..... and god knows you need stiff skis to slay n00bs.

Oh, shameless plug, Chronic 167's are a dream in waist deep (EC) tree skiing.
